Setup and maintenance

  • Tuning a Magnus Electric Chord Organ requires a set of fine jeweler's files and patience, akin to tuning a melodica.

    Source
  • Cleaning and removing corrosion from the reeds is crucial before attempting to tune, similar to an accordion maintenance process.

    Source
  • Air leaks can cause note delays; addressing these can improve responsiveness.

    Source

    Source

magic

I got a Magnus chord organ as a Christmas present from Santa when I was in the second grade. It was the best Christmas present I have ever gotten in my entire life, and I am now 65. It came with a book of children's songs that was a tutorial on how to play the organ, and I (and the rest of my family) played those songs literally nonstop all Christmas day. It triggered my love of making music. I am now retired and play the piano and organ for hours every day, and it all goes back to that Magnus chord organ. Sheer magic.
