Description

The Music Major Keyboard by V-Tech

This hand-painted, circuit-bent V-Tech Music Major transforms the original 1986 educational keyboard into a wild, experimental noise machine. While the unmodified Music Major offers charming, Speak & Spell-style electronic tones, this modified version delivers everything from quick blips and chirps to deep, crunchy growls. Its extensive circuit-bent controls allow players to manipulate pitch, timbre, and sub-bass in real time, producing an incredible range of chaotic, expressive sounds. Interactive features like light-sensitive pitch control and metal body contacts make the keyboard a hands-on sonic instrument. With its 1/4" mic input and output, it’s ready to integrate into modern setups while remaining a one-of-a-kind visual and sonic piece.

Specs:

• Modification: Circuit-bent, hand-painted
• Oscillator: LTC1799 for full pitch sweep (blips, chirps, growls)
• Light Control: Switch-activated light resistor for pitch and speed modulation
• Sub-Bass: Switch-activated knob for deep oscillation
• Timbre Control: Two knobs for wide tone-shaping capabilities
• Body Contacts: Two metal contacts that alter tone and pick up radio when touched
• Inputs: 1/4" mic input
• Outputs: 1/4" audio output
• Additional Controls: Hard reset button
• Unique Features: Extreme noise generation, experimental sound capabilities, interactive performance elements
