Critic Reviews

Roland Boutique Series Review Part Two

musictech.com

The Roland Boutique K-25m offers a fun, portable synth experience with the ability to slot in modules for on-the-go music-making. While its concept is innovative, aiming at a younger EDM crowd with a trigger-focused keyboard, it suffers from a toy-like appearance that may not appeal to everyone. The build quality feels a bit underwhelming, and the sound quality doesn't quite match that of classic analog synths. However, its portability, affordability, and ease of use make it a unique and enjoyable option for casual musicians. Despite its shortcomings, the K-25m is a playful addition to any setup.

Careful with them!

I have six of these, one for each of my Boutiques but be careful with them, I had to send two of them back to Roland for repair, loose keys on both of them. They can also be difficult to plug in the ribbon connector from the keyboard to the synth. I bent two pins on the receiving part of my JU-06, luckily I managed to straighten the pins and make the connection.

Portable.

Get what ya pay for but it makes for good fun if ya wanna just throw it in your backpack- zero hassle-quick fun- on trips large & small. Small enough to make even a subway or bus ride way more fun.
