Suzuki Omnichord OM-108: Hands On With The New Omnichord! - gearnews.com

gearnews.com

The Suzuki Omnichord OM-108 is a delightful blend of nostalgia and innovation, offering a fun and engaging playing experience. Its unique Strumplate feature produces beautiful arpeggios, while the addition of 108 chords and high-quality sounds makes it a versatile choice for both beginners and seasoned musicians. However, while the instrument excels in sound quality and playability, it may not fully satisfy those seeking a more traditional keyboard experience. Priced around $934, it straddles the line between a novelty and a serious instrument, appealing primarily to those with a penchant for quirky gear. Overall, the OM-108 shines brightly but might not be for everyone.

Suzuki Omnichord OM-108 review | Juno Daily

juno.co.uk

The Suzuki Omnichord OM-108 is a charming revival of a cult classic, transforming the unique autoharp-inspired design into an accessible electronic instrument that invites creativity. With 108 chord options and a playful built-in rhythm section, it’s easy to get started, making it ideal for beginners and seasoned musicians alike. While the MIDI limitations and lack of sync to external clocks may frustrate some, the quirky character and fun factor can't be denied. Its substantial price tag for a simple setup might raise eyebrows, but the OM-108 delivers an inspiring and enjoyable experience that stands out in the crowded music gear landscape.

Vintage 80s synth sounds and simple to use

I'm a singer, and I've tried to learn guitar and piano on and off for decades to accompany myself while singing, but I just don't seem to have the ability to play fluently whilst also focusing on really delving into the depths of a song. Either the playing suffers or the singing suffers. In essence, the Omnichord is like a Casio MT-40, a digital keyboard with autochords and rhythms, but with much richer, more textured sounds (forgive me Sleng Teng lovers!), with more options to manipulate and balance the voices. Most importantly for a non tech geek and klutz fingers like me, the Omnichord is a beautifully simple instrument to use. The OM-108 is a reissue of the Omnichord based mainly on the OM-84 model. Unlike the Casio, the Omnichord OM-108, has extended chords, so you can play major, minor, 7s, diminished and augmented.
