Yamaha DGX 300 keyboard review.

yamaha-keyboard-guide.com

The Yamaha DGX-300 shines as a versatile portable keyboard, boasting an impressive array of 619 voices and 135 accompaniment styles, perfect for any musical endeavor. Its standout Grand Piano sound is particularly praised, making it a joy to play. However, potential buyers should note that it has fewer keys than its sibling, the DGX-500, which might limit some pianists. Overall, this keyboard is a solid choice for home use, education, or band performances, making it a worthwhile investment for musicians looking for quality and variety.

Good polyphony, few controls

The keyboard was probably meant to be a digital piano, meaning it sacrifices timbre controls so it can have high polyphony. I think it does have control over effects like reverb or something, but I barely ever used it. Its velocity sensitivity is also sacrificed for its price.

It's more than a toy, but not much more than amateur. It would probably be semi-pro if it had more I/O. I remember it only having one audio output, a headphone port, and maybe an outbound MIDI port. Not great for recording, but it plays fine.

I probably recommend it for classical students, or if you wanna get 32 notes of polyphony for maybe $200. You could probably mod in some I/O if you really need it for a job, and effects pedals might come in handy if you have any guitar friends.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I mostly used Piano and Guitar timbres, and I think you can get 16 notes of polyphony if you layer stuff.
