When asked about the piano sound in Alesso's track "Years", he said he first tried a piano from Logic's own EXS sampler, but then switched to the Pianoteq "because you can really manipulate the piano sound really well." The original source is this MusicRadar interview.
Alesso frequently uses headphones to mix. His favorite are the Sennheiser HD 25, since he listens to a lot of music with them and thus knows exactly how a track should sound. A tip he gives is to use your laptop speakers to check your mix, since "you should be able to hear everything in the mix that is important through the laptop speakers."

For mastering, Alesso advocates tweaking the individual channels to be more beneficial in the end. Regarding the master bus, "I love the Sonnox Limiter and the Waves stuff for the master if I use anything."
