Andy Bell's Guitars
Pictured on his Instagram, Bell used the guitar for a livestream performance
Happy new year ! The flyer says acoustic but I’ve decided to bring my J Mascis Squier tomorrow instead. I’ll be at @loficoffeeuk from 2pm UK time, jamming around, all hopped up on top quality coffee. This time, due to the Covid restrictions, it’s a STREAM ONLY event, no punters allowed inside unfortunately. So ! Stay safe out there. Thanks and if you tune in to the stream, I hope you enjoy it 🙏
In the OUI FM acoustic session video for "Start Anew" by Beady Eye, Andy Bell is actually playing an Epiphone Frontier, not an Epiphone Hummingbird.
“I do play a 335 as well, which is this black one, like an early ’70’s one, which is a little bit rawer and a little bit more leery [than the Trini Lopez]." – Andy Bell on his Gibson ES-335
"This is my main guitar, a 1967 Trini Lopez with a Bigsby fitted. I have two and they are very similar. I bought the first one in LA while I was in Oasis. Noel borrowed it and used it onstage for one of our tours. When it got shipped home to me in Sweden after a year of touring around the world with no problems, it arrived at my front door in two pieces! Baggage handlers had dropped it from some crazy height on it’s journey home. The happy ending to the story is that I had it repaired by my friend, the guitar builder Phillipe Dubreuille, and it now stays in tune for longer and sounds better than it ever did. And you can’t see the repair at all. back in Ride I used to use a Les Paul whenever I wasn’t playing a 12 string. This guitar will be used for all those songs."
According to Guitar Geek's rig diagram, Bell uses 1960s Gibson Les Paul Custom.
"I played the donated Hohner for quite a while, then got a Satellite, which was a nice 335 copy. I used that for the early Ride stuff, and when we got signed I bought two Rickenbacker 12-strings—a 330 and a 360—and a Gretsch Tennessean, all in one shopping trip on Denmark Street in London."

Mark [Gardener, Ride’s other singer and guitarist] bought a Fender Jaguar and a Rickenbacker as well. He got the smaller John Lennon-sized one and I got the larger ones like George Harrison and Roger McGuinn used."
