Blixa Bargeld's Gear

1:30 in the video gives the first clear shot featuring Blixa with the Mustang.

The blue Mustang seems to be Blixa's instrument of choice and has remained so for all of his Bad Seeds career. Blixa's even less talkative about gear than Rowland was, so there doesn't seem to be any information about regarding specifics, but it's probably a fairly safe bet that Blixa's used the same Mustang as his main since he got it, since it's always a Sonic Blue with a white pickguard, and it seems improbable that Blixa's ideology would allow him multiple identical instruments.

Bargeld's guitars of choice are a Fender Jaguar and a Fender Mustang, as seen on the concert DVD God Is In The House and various other media appearances. Initially he used a battered Hofner Model 173 and a red Hofner Colorama II until they "broke down." After his effect pedals were stolen in the early 1980s, he exclusively relied on the Fender floating/dynamic tremolo (like the Hofner units)—which both raise and lower pitch—Fender Twin amplifiers, metal slides, and changing his amp settings for each individual song, to create a unique guitar sound.[10]

I worked as a band technician for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (while Blixa Bargeld was a member) and also for Einstuerzende Neubauten (where Blixa is the lead vocalist) on all tours between 1990 and 2000. Blixa owned a Fender "The Twin" with JBLs and always insisted on one when we rented backline overseas, so he was very specific about that amp.
