At some points during the 1980's, Kraftwerk used:
- NED Synclavier
- 1 Yamaha TX816 synthesiser
- 2 Atari ST computers
During Kraftwerk's 2015 performance at Amsterdam Paradiso, as shown in Willy Billiams' YouTube video, the band uses two Apple iPads. One iPad is configured with Lemur/TouchOSC for their third rig, while the other operates the video rigs in the fourth setup.
In the YouTube video "Kraftwerk.Autobahn Encore!!! Amsterdam Paradiso 2015" by Willy Billiams, Kraftwerk is seen using an M-Audio Oxygen 8 MIDI controller on their third rig.
Kraftwerk has utilized the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer among their equipment, as documented in the "Equipment" section of the Kraftwerk FAQ.
On the 1978 album The Man-Machine, a Moog Micromoog synthesiser provides the bass sound on The Model. An Eventide Digital Delay was used on this album only.
Kraftwerk uses the Korg nanoKONTROL2, as noted in a discussion on the Rammstein World forum, where it was mentioned as part of their third rig setup.

During Kraftwerk's 2015 encore performance of "Autobahn" at the Amsterdam Paradiso, a Native Instruments Maschine is visible on their second rig, as shown in the YouTube video by Willy Billiams.
Kraftwerk is seen using the Contour Design ShuttlePro V2 in their fourth rig, as noted in the Rammstein World forum discussion.
Kraftwerk has utilized the Roland S-750 Sampler, as listed in the equipment section of The Kraftwerk FAQ.
Kraftwerk utilized the Vox V829 Percussion King drum machine on their 1974 album, "Autobahn," as noted in the Kraftwerk FAQ.
On the 1977 album Trans-Europe Express, an Eventide FL-201 Instant Flanger was used.
Kraftwerk used an Akai DD1000 Digital Recorder during their concerts in the UK in June 1992, as noted in the Kraftwerk FAQ.
The CX5M was successful for many years, selling systems to the project studio and home recording market, whereas the C1 was an expensive machine, only used by professionals. And not only for music - check out the video of Kraftwerk’s Die Roboter, where the C1 is used to control the movements of the performing robots via MIDI. As I said at the start of this micro tutorial, the music industry is very innovative!
