EH: There’s a part in one of the songs where I’m like, not playing in key, and because we have the Rainbow Machine goin’ off, going crazy, going up and down, these crazy note patterns, almost like the guitar’s talking to itself, and then I break into a solo after one measure, and we’ve never done anything like that before. So that’s pretty cool.

EH: Probably when we used the Disaster Transport. When you turn up the delay, there’s this crazy sound like an alien spaceship in the background, and it just does that forever.

While CHON’s catchy math rock is performed with precision, Mario’s approach to modulation effects is relatively laissez faire. “I just kinda throw [modulation effects] on randomly throughout the set,” he says, pointing towards his Grand Orbiter and Hummingbird.

It was quite tricky working out what it was purely from the video but at 1:30 into the video, a few hints here and there lead me to believe that it is an Ibanez RG652FX that has had a custom paintjob over it, mainly because of the pickups and the black finish prior to the custom paint job (designed by his guitar teacher in San Diego, Seth Hollander.) Considering the fact that it is not an existing model, and due to its similarity to his signature MAR10, it is most likely an Ibanez L.A. Custom Shop AZ as a draft for the MAR10 itself. Due to its features (24 frets, HH with pickguard, Prestige for being hand made, AZ style body, MAR10's Lavender Mettalic Matte finish, standard dot inlays, and a body that looks like standard basswood or alder), its model number in production would be AZ2403-LMM. Used on Super CHON Bros 2 tour.
