Mike Oldfield's Gear
In a live performance of "Tubular Bells II" at Edinburgh Castle in 1992, Mike Oldfield can be seen using a Korg M1 synthesizer. This is documented in a YouTube video uploaded by Luis Mediavilla.
Mike plays this in the video for Wonderful Land. It can also be seen in the background in the interviews from The Essential Mike Oldfield.
Mike Oldfield is shown using the Fender Roscoe Beck Bass® IV in a 2013 photo uploaded to Tubular.
It can be seen on the floor on this video from 0'20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tahINCwwfks&ab_channel=MikeOldfieldVEVO
Oldfield can be seen in this photo playing a Gibson ES-335.
Oldfield can be seen in this photo playing a Martin D-35.
The attached image is from the sleeve of Oldfields "Discovery" album. The VP-330 is clearly visible in the left foreground in front of the Fairlight monitor.
The attached image is from the inner sleeve of Oldfields "Discovery" album. Although a bit difficult to see clearly, the OBX-A is on top of the Fairlight. Also visit http://tubular.net/instruments/#SYNTH for a comprehensive list of Oldfields gear
This wonderfully detailed photo from the Ommadawn recording sessions labels each instrument that Oldfield used on the album. If you really can't find it since everything is so well labelled, the Solina is between Mike and the tubular bells
In this video of Oldfield recording the Blue Peter theme, from around 3:10 he is seen playing the main theme on the Roland SH-2000. (The clarinet preset was one of his favourites!) Refer also to the thoroughly comprehensive gear list on http://tubular.net/instruments/#SYNTH
Used as the sole electric guitar on Tubular Bells, as stated by its subsequent owner Keith Smart in this March 5, 2012 Telecaster Discussion Page Reissue post and this October 10, 2018 Facebook post.

I am lucky to be the custodian of Mike Oldfield's Fender Telecaster (neck date Nov 66) that he used to record TUBULAR BELLS. Mike fitted a Bill Lawrence pick up to the guitar. The guitar was used to record all of the electric guitar parts on the album. I have been using the instrument in the studio and it has a really great sound, lots of sustain. Before Mike owned the guitar it belonged to Marc Bolan. In case members are interested, I have put a video together for You Tube. Here is the link

All the best, K
The Fender Telecaster (neck date Nove 66) used by Mike Oldfield to record the ground breaking album Tubular Bells. Mike Oldfield got the guitar from Marc Bolan of T Rex. Keith Smart gives a quick history of the instrument and gives a demo of the guitar.

It's world mental health day today!
In 2009 Mike Oldfield sold me the Fender Telecaster he used to record the album Tubular Bells. It's the only electric guitar on that album. Mike got the guitar from Marc Bolan.
Mike donated the money from the guitar to SANE, a mental health charity. I try and do my bit to raise money for SANE with the guitar.
At 9:40 of this video, Oldfield can be seen playing a Fender Jazz Bass with the Kevin Ayers Band.
Mike uses the Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar 3-Color Sunburst on his videoclip of the song Moonshine. It's the only guitar he plays there.
"Logic is a great program and I ve used Logic Audio quite a lot on this project - It was particularly useful for synchronising bits of percussion - you can line up the beats graphically I've also used the audio facilities to loop certain musical parts, but this isn't done out of laziness; sometimes things just work better when they are looped. Looping is very much a modern thing, rather like punching a button on your video to see the same thing over and over again. I must admit that it's something I really like at the moment - though I can't say I won't go off it in the future."
