"Engines of Creation is a techno record. I wrote the music digitally, which meant using a keyboard instead of an acoustic guitar, and emailed MIDI files to my partner, Eric Caudieux. He used Logic Audio Platinum from Emagic for digital processing and sequencing."
In an article from Sound on Sound, Autechre is noted for using Emagic Logic Audio as part of their diverse music production setup.
Although Numan writes all of his music on an aged upright piano, slowly adding effects, synth sounds and big beats, he also works with modern gear: Emagic Logic Audio Platinum and Digidesign Pro Tools on an Apple Mac G4 with two iZ Technology RADAR 24 digital recorders and a Mackie d8b desk. His synths are both soft and hard: Korg Wavestation, Alesis QuadraSynth, Korg M1, Roland D50 LA, GEM S2 Turbo and a Korg electric piano.
"Logic is a great program and I ve used Logic Audio quite a lot on this project - It was particularly useful for synchronising bits of percussion - you can line up the beats graphically I've also used the audio facilities to loop certain musical parts, but this isn't done out of laziness; sometimes things just work better when they are looped. Looping is very much a modern thing, rather like punching a button on your video to see the same thing over and over again. I must admit that it's something I really like at the moment - though I can't say I won't go off it in the future."
In this dated video, ATB showcases his studio. The program that he's using to mix his songs is called Emagic Logic Audio 8, which can first be seen at :45s.
Emagic Logic Audio was used on Geoff Downes' Shadows and Reflections, according to the liner notes.
A studio is nothing without equipment. In A.R.T. Studio the following top shelf music gear (and some personal favorites of Michael) were available:
Custom built AMEK Digital mixing console Audio Frame Workstation and Waveframe 1000 (old at the time, very important for the Enigma sound) Custom built studio controller by Quested Acoustics Protools system hardware Emagic Logic Audio Platinum software. Sample cell (Software sampler) Steinberg’s Halion External Midi modules and hardware: Lexicon 480 and 960 (reverb) Yamaha REV1, REV7 and REV9, Eventide Reverb Dynacord DRP20. MIDIMoog, PPG System, Korg M1, C-Lab Notator Takamine 6 and 12 String Guitars Tom Anderson Electric Guitars Otari DTR-900 Akai 900 Linn 9000 Prophet 2002 X-Pander EMS Vocoder DX-7 Roland MKS-80 «Super Jupiter», Roland V-Synth, Korg OASYS Korg Karma And, of course, a PC-based Studio Sampler. This is, after all, sample heavy music!

"I bought along my Supernova and my Nord Micro Modular as well as Reaktor and AbSynth, Arboretum’s Hyper Engine, Logic Audio, Pluggo and Sound Diver. In addition, I brought the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer and the Doepfer Regelwerk Fader Box; also my Genelec 1029As, to which we soon added the 1091 sub."
Visconti says that the basic vocal chain on the album consisted of Bowie's own Manley Gold Reference Mic into an Avalon mic pre, into an LA-3A compressor and a Focusrite Red EQ, then into an Apogee 8000 A/D converter and a G4 Mac running Logic Audio.
Due to the 9600's handicaps, Innes only uses it for sequencing and editing parts in Emagic Logic Audio.
