Pete Doherty's Gear

Hide incorrect submissions

Pete Doherty can be seen playing a vintage cherry red finish Epiphone Coronet Electric Guitar in this photo. He has played it with several of his bands, including Libertines and Babyshambles. It most closely matches a 1960s model, with a single P-90 pickup in the bridge position. There was a brief run of Korean-made 1990s Coronets which have a single coil pickup in the neck position, thus excluding that as a possibility for the one Pete Doherty plays. In terms of the headstock, the original and 90s reissued Coronets varied in terms of headstock style - some had six tuners all on one side, while others had 3-per-side Gibson-style headstocks. Doherty's particular Coronet has the former.

At first I thought it was an Ibanez Tube Screamer(ts-9 or ts-808 like Carl Barat) but, IT'S NOT. If you take a really close look on the "Rock In Seine" gig, you can see a Boss TR-2 on Pete's side. He uses this tremolo only in "Barbarians". You can barely see the pedal on the image, but take a look on the shape and it's the only effect that Pete uses. You can see on 1:05:15 how Pete activates the effect https://vimeopro.com/sandco/sombrero-and-co-live/video/154044614
