Elektron: What synth or other piece of equipment is your bread-and-butter staple?

SOPHIE: I'm on a low carb diet. It's literally just Monomachine and software right now.

At 1:53, SOPHIE uses Serum in Ableton and discusses software synthesizers.

Well, you have the possibily with electronic music to generate any texture in theory and any sound. So why would any musician want to limit themselves? You want to work with the most powerful tools you can work with, and in the past that may have been a piano or a guitar, but now I think the power of software synthesizers is something that all musicians I would think would want to harness.

She talks about her use of the Pioneer CDJ's in this interview with Daniel Sterner for Elektronauts:

Please explain the beauty of CDJ and how they compare to the SL-1200! Well I can just turn up with a USB stick with every version of everything I've ever made on and feel fairly confident that the equipment will work as planned. Also you have the ability to use it like a sampler. Just trigger different bits of audio. It feels quite robust and light weight and easy to update with new material. Also I have my USB sticks attached to my clothes so they can't really go missing. In theory. Well that and the fact that vinyl doesn't sound as good!

SOPHIE confirms her usage of NI’s Razor soft synth in this interview and article with Google Arts & Culture by Musikinstrumenten-Museum.

“I saw Razor as one of the final ingredients I needed to make this, sort of, SOPHIE-sounding music that I had in my mind. When I started playing around with it, it just had this futuristic, very clean quality to it that sounded quite different to a lot of other things. I wrote the ‘BIPP’ bassline on the Motif then recreated it in Razor, which is what you hear at the beginning. Razor is featured a lot in ‘LEMONADE’ as well."
