Yngwie Malmsteen's Gear
this is a picture from yngwie in front of a giant stack of jcm 900's
Yngwe got a Fender Telecaster Jimmy Page edition as a gift from Fender.
In this article, Malmsteen states:
Looking fit, thinking clearly and seeming happier than ever, Yngwie appears to have greater control of the alcohol indulgences that sometimes got the best of him in the past. "I've realized that too much of anything is no good" he says. "Except too much guitars. I've got 30 in this house, and I have at least another 30 in storage. Since I'm always surrounded by them, it's hard to look at a guitar and not pick it up. "I seem to find good guitars in Sweden," he adds. "I have a lot of contacts with guitar dealers. The one I get are so expensive, most people wouldn't even consider buying them. If I see something I like, I'll say, 'Okay, I'll take that '61 Strat, please.' I still get 'em cheaper than most people would. "The last time I went to Sweden I bought an early-Sixties Gibson Les Paul Junior. I also bought a mid-Sixties Gibson Les Paul sunburst and a '66 dot-neck SG. Although Strats are always going to be my favorites, I like to noodle on different things."
In the YouTube video "In the Studio with... Yngwie Malmsteen" by Guitar World, at the 4:58 mark, Yngwie Malmsteen mentions his Dean Sky Electric Guitar, noting, "...I actually have an Uli guitar as well..."

Throughout this video, Yngwie Malmsteen is using an Ovation Acoustic/Electric guitar for a classical piece. He plays Tocata with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The only thing I could not figure out is the Ovation has a classical acoustic headstock, as opposed to the sharp, circular headstocks most ovation currently have. This may be due to the earlier model Yngwie uses
"What happened was, for 12 years I always used a keyboard player and a drum programmer for my Roland R-8 MKII, which is a bitchin’ drum machine! The keyboard player and I had a falling out and I wound up sitting in my studio all alone. I was writing songs like “Stronghold” and “Attack” — good riffs if I may say so. But I felt there was something missing, so I went to the store and what did I do? I bought a guitar synth because I just wanted to hear what it would sound like if a keyboard player like Derek Sherinian or someone who could play some interesting stuff on there. Reason being, I didn’t have somebody with me. I just wanted to add something that would help me come up with vocals and lyrics. I write all that stuff. I write every thing, you know? So that is how I use the GR-33."
At 1:49, you can see the Boss CE-1 on the top of his pedal board
Oh, I did get two new guitars during the tour. Steve gave me one of his signature models and I gave him one of mine. It’s great. Neal Schon gave us guitars, too. He gave me a beautiful white 67 Reissue Flying V and and it’s beautiful! He gave each of the other two guys a Les Paul. So go, Neal, go!
In this photo we can see Malmsteen with a Sunburst Gibson Les Paul strapped over his shoulder, as well as a Fender Stratocaster in his hand in what appears to be a Fiesta Red Finish. This guiatar can be seen once again here in the background of this photo.
"I started using this to make noise with," Malmsteen says at (5:45) in reference to his Roland DC-20 Analog Echo.
