Pultec EQP based equilizer plugin

Sorry for my bad english. Waves PuigTec EQs is one of the clones of the legendary hardware equalizer Pultec EQP as AU/VST plugin software, I like this Waves Audio version because I think this version had the best rate from quality to cost. Very recommended.

Perfect for the Pultec Trick!

Get that 60hz pultec sound on your kick for more low end. The plugin replicates the real thing well!

davi770: 4.) What does your typical master chain look like and how much Limiting (GR) do you aim for on the limiter(s) ? (I know this is kinda case specific but you must have some go-to's)

OfficialPierceFulton: 4. As I said, I have no idea what I'm doing but lately it's like: gain for easy master volume adjustments, Ozone 5 for some EQ, stereo imagine, and occasionally compression, another EQ after ozone to get any weird bits, Waves PuigTec on this weird setting Nate (Audien) showed me once, and then my limiter is a Sausage Fattener totally plain no knobs turned. It's totally messed up but it works for me! I learned from trial and error and never had any formal engineering training.

The EQP-1A was used on the organ for "Take Me to Church", stated by mix engineer Rob Kirwan in this March 2015 Sound on Sound interview.

Guitars & keyboards: TL Labs TL Aggro, Avid Trim, Waves Puigtech EQP1A, Eventide H3000, Focusrite Red EQ & Audio Ease Altiverb.

“Below the ‘Kit Plate’ aux track are four organ tracks. The top two were recorded through an amplifier via my 57 and Delta mics, and below that is a distorted organ track, with the Trillium Lane Labs TL Aggro compression plug–in on it and a Pultec EQ. The ‘Organ 3000’ track is probably me putting one of Andrew’s Logic organs through my Eventide H3000. Further down are six guitar tracks without any treatments — the ‘T’ on one of them is a Trim — and below that are the piano tracks, some of which are again heavily edited. Andrew wasn’t as good yet at playing the piano. He’s very good now, though! I got him to do the left hand separately, which are the ‘New Piano’ tracks. I once again had the Focusrite Red EQ plug–in on the piano, and there’s a ‘Piano Verb’ aux track, which also has the Wendy Carlos EMT plate from Altiverb, just with a different pre–delay. In general I like to create a sense of everything coming from the same space, so the Wendy Carlos plate is on many things in this song. There’s more piano below that, again with just Focusrite EQ. In all there’s a lot of piano, it was one of the most important elements of the song.”

The EQP-1A emulation was used for the backing vocals on "SexyBack", as stated by mix engineer Jimmy Douglass in this July 2007 Sound on Sound interview.

Backing vocals: MXR flanger, Digidesign Impact, Sound Toys Filter Freak, Celemony Melodyne, Waves Q10, Metaflanger and Renaissance Reverb, Pultec EQ

"The backing vocals are all Justin. I'd say it's about 12 tracks, three-part harmony. I'm sure I used the MXR flanger on this as well, and also the Impact plug-in, which is supposed to simulate the SSL board compressor. I wanted to really hit it hard, with an attack-y kind of sound that releases really quickly. I also used the Filter Freak plug-in, which is great, and Melodyne, Metaflanger, the Waves Q10 EQ, the Pultec EQP1A and the Rverb [Renaissance Reverb] plug-ins. Rverb is not a great reverb, but I like it, because it's low-grade. The weird backing vox effects are a combination of things, and I have no idea how I did what."
