ThorpyFX is a British boutique guitar pedal manufacturer based in Brackley, England, founded in 2014 by Adrian Thorpe MBE, a former Major in the British Army. Encouraged by his wife Georgia to turn his passion for building effects pedals into a business, Thorpe released the company's first pedal, the Gunshot Overdrive, in April 2015. The company's design team includes Dan Coggins, formerly of the legendary British effects brand Lovetone. All ThorpyFX pedals are hand-built using through-hole components and tested through valve amps before shipping.
The ThorpyFX lineup spans overdrive, fuzz, distortion, boost, modulation, and compression pedals, all housed in distinctive chrome-finished enclosures built for heavy touring. Signature models include the Dane MKII (a dual-channel overdrive/boost designed with session guitarist Pete "Danish Pete" Honoré), the Electric Lightning (a valve overdrive collaboration with Chris Buck of Cardinal Black), the Fallout Cloud fuzz, the Warthog distortion, and the Peacekeeper low-gain overdrive. The company has also collaborated with Lazy J Amplifiers on The J, an analog amp emulator pedal.
ThorpyFX pedals appear on the boards of a wide range of professional guitarists, including Ed O'Brien of Radiohead, Graham Coxon of Blur, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Noel Gallagher, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake, Jim Weider of The Band, and Chris Robertson of Black Stone Cherry.
ThorpyFX has 37 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Fuzz Effects Pedals, Overdrive Effects Pedals, and Boost Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 25 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Blues, and Pop. Notable users include Graham Coxon, Chris Buck, and Peter Honoré. Most ThorpyFX products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
