Same name artists

Ah yeah good point, we need to work on that.

For now, submit him as Dave Evans 1. Post here when you've done that and I can correct it afterwards.

Boost

I was recently playing with some boost pedals, and still stand by our findings here. Love both the MXR and the Exotic EP.

Best Guitar Combination on Two Guitarist Band

okay, the channel volumes are itneractive without jumpering from the low input of the channel you're plugged into to the high input of the channel you aren't using like on a plexi or bassman, but when you don't use the jumper they interactive differently, less of a blend then a cancellation thing... the tweed deluxe trick is to plug into the bright channel and turn up right to the edge of breakup and then turn up the volume on the normal channel up until you like the clean tone. It'll gain you down a smidge in the mids and give some lows. Then if you want some more top end luster and top end crunch when you dig in you turn the tone knob past 5 until its what you want. The tone knob acts like an extra set of bright caps above 50% whereas its a treble rolloff like a guitar tone pot below 50%. Its pretty neutral halfway up with minimal insertion loss. But the midrange trick is the way all 3 knobs itneract. Youc an reverse it and go into the noral channel and change the voice with the bright channel's volume knob too, but I think msot people agree the mojo is doing it the way i just told you to try.

Best Guitar Combination on Two Guitarist Band

Man that's tough, imho they are all great options for a rhythm guitar to complement the Epiphone Dot.

I know you said no "player preference" ... but does he/she have ANY preference? My answer - without knowing what type of music you play - is I don't think it's going to make an enormous difference to your sound as a whole, and your rhythm guitarist should pick the guitar they see themselves falling in love with.

Equipboard updates and changes

Sure we could do it but things are gonna get weird for humanity for a while there.

Equipboard updates and changes

Hey everyone! Just wanted to do a quick post and let you all know what we've been up to at Equipboard HQ. We've been making some backend/infrastructure changes to make the site faster, more reliable, and more secure, as well as some improvements to the overall site experience.

  • The entire site is now served over HTTPS. You should notice a little lock πŸ”’ icon in the browser URL bar. The 'S' in HTTPS stands for 'Secure,' which means all communications between your browser and Equipboard are encrypted.
  • We've been working on making the site faster, so hopefully it feels a little snappier as you're browsing around on both desktop and mobile.
  • By popular demand, we added Metal as a genre. You can now apply that genre to artists (new and existing) as needed.
  • You can now save items from the mobile site (I posted separately about this here).
  • Also by popular demand, we added a 'had' list in addition to the existing have & want.
  • We've been happily squashing lots of little bugs and annoyances around the site.

There are a lot of things coming up as well:

  • You guys asked for a search feature for the forum, which @michael and I think is a great idea so we'll get going on it.
  • Some categories need to be fixed to make more sense, for instance Synths right now has a parent category of Electronic Keyboards which doesn't make much sense.
  • We're going to add a tutorial in or around the FAQ on how to save items to your Equipboard. We get asked that a lot from new users, so my guess is the process needs to be a little clearer!
  • When adding a new item to the site, we want to add the ability to just put in a URL from a store like Musician's Friend and the item gets auto-added with all the right photos, description, etc. We can eventually expand that to support all the major music retailers.
  • We want to enable submitting gear to pros from the mobile site.
  • On Role pages, you should be able to filter by genre. So for instance, if you're looking at guitarists, you should be able to filter by guitarists who play blues or metal or whatever you want.

Okay, sorry maybe that wasn't such a quick post after all 😁 Hopefully this helps give a sense for what's to come, and of course if you have any ideas or strongly support (or oppose) anything I laid out above, don't hesitate to reply and let us know.

Equipboard wouldn't be anything without you guys, so we continue to appreciate you and please keep the good ideas coming.

Forum Search box???

That makes sense to me dudes, thanks for the feedback.

Forum Search box???

Do you guys know of any forum that has an elegant solution to this?

Right now the EB search results page is 3 columns (pro artists, items, and members). Not sure where to squeeze in forum posts.

Any ideas?

Forum Search box???

I actually haven't heard this idea in a while, but I like it. I was recently trying to hunt down an old forum thread and wish I had something of the sort.

I'm trying to think if we could do this in increments - maybe first introduce a forum search that looks through topic titles (in this case, as an example, the topic title being Forum Search box???).

If it works well, we could then expand it to searching through the actual contents of a thread.

Would it be at all useful if it only looked through topic titles?

Adding PRO feature down?

Hi all. Metal is now a top-level genre that can be attributed to artists. 😎 🀘

There are quite a few artists already associated with the genre, as you can see here: equipboard.com/genres/metal.

But obviously you can use the artist editing feature to add it to anyone that needs it.

Also, removed the "& DJ" from the genre "Electronic & DJ" because, well, Disc Jockey is not a genre of music! Ahh, gotta love ghosts in the machine from EB early days πŸ˜†

Is there a way to update images?

Unfortunately no, not right now. It's on the list of projects we're considering to work on next! Until then, I went ahead and updated that image to the one you suggested.

Saving items from the mobile site

You can now save items to your Equipboard when browsing the mobile site. We get asked about this one a lot, so we made it happen!

New feature! The "gear I used to have" list

Alright, it's finally live! The "Had" list (I know, super imaginative name) can be found right above your Want list.

https://i.imgur.com/KdEG6x5.png

If you have any gear currently saved that you want to move to the Had list, you can go to the item's page, click the Save link again, and just select the "I used to have it" option. If you've written a review, it will carry over to the Had list.

Enjoy and let me know if you have any feedback.

Additional Personal Equipboard organisation

Update - I'm working on this as we speak! Looking to have it done some time this week. I'll post again when it's live.

8yalmost 8 years ago

Is there a posting limit?

Nope there is no limit. What are the two items you're trying to add?

8yalmost 8 years ago

Additional Personal Equipboard organisation

I believe it! πŸ˜† michael gets back from vacay mid-next week so I'll have a chat with him on what the best way to implement this is. I think it's a good idea, and asked about a lot.

Cannot change a posting

No worries, I deleted the Fender amp for you. What pic would you like to replace the Ibanez with?

8yalmost 8 years ago

Additional Personal Equipboard organisation

Would it be easier to add a "tag" to gear you used to own, but have everything still live in your normal categories? Or would it be preferable to have a dedicated tab/section for that?

Hello!

Hi! Welcome to Equipboard, nice to have you :)

Thanks! And welcome :)

Hey Dany, welcome! Glad to have you here :)

Categorization makes a total mess

Thanks for stepping in Jim.

Yup Jim's totally right, some of the stuff is mis-categorized at the ITEM level which means it won't end up in the right category on your own Equipboard. The Yamaha MSP 5 for instance should be under Studio Monitors: http://equipboard.com/items/yamaha-msp-5

wavesequence, I see you deleted items from your board - I apologize again for the confusion!

(vedo che sei Italiano ... anch'io! Ciao :)

Categorization makes a total mess

Hi there!

I'm sorry about the confusion. In your Equipboard page, do you see the Categorize Your Gear button?

https://i.imgur.com/xp8FOYf.png?1

You need to click that, and in the menu that pops up just select Studio Monitors as one of the sections you want. When you add that section, the monitors that ended up in "other gear" should place themselves correctly under Studio Monitors.

https://i.imgur.com/3HluNcF.png

Unless you specifically say you want a section, things default to going into Other Gear.

I know it's a little confusing, we'll have to come up with some better documentation.

My Equipboard

Hi!

Say you use a Boss TU-3, you would go to that pedal's page: http://equipboard.com/items/boss-tu-3-chromatic-tuner

And hit the orange "+ Save" button. Does that help?

I enjoyed it, really nice work. Favorites are Nevada In My pocket, Tinted Glass, and Floating.

You're already into that style of electronica

I definitely am, big fan of Orbital. Thanks for sharing. I'll give it a proper listen with headphones beginning of next week.

I saw your Equipboard is majority software. Is that primarily what you used on this album? Any interesting gear facts are welcome :)

I thik people would be happy to help, but could you elaborate on the school project? Why are we doing the survey?

SICK tone (U2 - Bullet The Blue Sky live)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63ppcnSV6JU

Just got the urge to share. I've always LOVED Edge's tone in this song, specifically this live version. I'm not even a huge U2 fan, but this one makes it move for me. Skip to the solo if you're in a hurry.

Man, gives me chills. Anyone else?

What string gauges does everyone use?

I go back and forth between Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky and Super Slinky for my electric guitars.

I have several packs and after I've gone through them, I'm gonna switch to D'Addario NYXL. When we tested them in the office we all loved them. I'll probably go with 9s.

Noise gate question

In our tests we loved the ISP Decimator II as a "premium" option. Have you considered that one?

hijacked and redirected to malware sites constantly. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes xaqary I got the email, thanks it was helpful.

For you guys getting redirected to weird sites, is it always the same site? Or different ones? That would help me diagnose.

Hey, I thought we got to the bottom of that issue but I guess it's not completely gone. Sorry for the trouble, that's no good... I'll escalate it again. Do you have any more details? Do you know what page you were on when it happened?

Being pushed from Equipboard to a fishing/spam site

I don’t know what’s going on but I was getting pushed like eight pages deep into spam out of nowhere while updating some equipment. Anyone else having this issue?

umm... that's concerning. Michael and I will check into this.
