Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about ATC Loudspeakers SCS70 Pro.

Features and functionality

  • Continuous phase control on the Focal Sub One is favored for achieving clean crossover with ATC monitors, providing more precision than basic polarity flips.

    Source
  • Concealed but effective room treatment techniques, like slatted panels with fiber insulation, contribute to audio quality without excessive visible treatment.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • For SBIR issues, repositioning speakers shifts frequency dips; adding a substantial absorber could mitigate these issues by addressing frequency interactions.

    Source
  • Owner emphasizes the impact of bass traps, noting they significantly improved room acoustics more than other treatments.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Using a subwoofer phase knob in conjunction with a sine wave at the crossover frequency aids in precise subwoofer alignment for optimal sound integration.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners find sub placement critical; experimenting with different spots and distances, combined with phase and latency adjustments, can enhance low-end performance.

    Source
  • The ATC SCS70 Sub, paired with ATC SCM25A Mk II monitors, is preferred over NS-10Ms due to superior clarity and detail in audio reproduction.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • High-passing ATC SCM45A monitors and crossing over a sub around 80-90 Hz is a practical approach for electronic music production to fill low-end gaps.

    Source
  • The studio setup, including the ATC SCS70 Sub, is designed for mixing, not tracking, optimizing audio clarity for mixing tasks.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Kali Audio and Adams monitors are recommended as cost-effective alternatives to NS-10Ms, with a fuller audible range for mixing if budget is a concern.
