    Source
  • One owner noted the ABZ's finish occasionally shows less grain detail compared to other Dingwall models.

    Source
  • Canadian-made Dingwalls are less likely to come with a certificate of authenticity, which might concern some buyers but isn't typically indicative of counterfeiting.

Value and pricing

    Source
  • ABZ models without exotic finishes or active setups are often priced lower; $3,800 is steep for a basic color passive model.

    Source
  • The ABZ's weight is consistently lighter than the Music Man Bongo, making it more comfortable for long studio sessions.

    Source
  • An ABZ6 with 3 pickups and Darkglass preamp is considered a better value at $4,000, especially if it includes series/parallel switches and a wenge neck/board.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The NG is recommended for those who frequently play live, while the ABZ's premium nature makes it a cautious choice for gigs.

    Source
  • The ABZ is favored by jazz and funk players for its responsive dynamics and ability to cut through mixes.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The ABZ's passive electronics are praised for delivering a clear, articulate sound often preferred for studio work.

    Source
  • Older ABZ models feature rectangular pickup shells, indicating an earlier production date and possibly affecting value and desirability.

Love Dingwall basses!

I've got 4 Dingwall basses, 3 ABZs and an NG-3. Love 'em all! The multi scale setup is incredible and it's easy to play. I've got an ABZ 4/3, a 5/3, and a 6/3. Ash/Maple/Wenge/3X/Darkglass/Hipshot.
