Review: Dingwall Combustion BEAD - Bass Magazine

bassmagazine.com

The Dingwall Combustion BEAD is a forward-thinking bass that impresses with its extended scale and low-end prowess. Its robust design and versatile pickup configuration make it ideal for modern bass lines that demand depth and clarity. While its fanned frets might seem daunting, they contribute to the instrument's superior tonal consistency. However, players favoring vintage warmth may find its sound a bit too polished. Despite this, the Combustion excels in delivering a punchy and authoritative tone that fits well in diverse musical settings, from rock to R&B. A well-crafted tool for bassists venturing into new sonic territories.

Dingwall Combustion 5 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Dingwall Combustion 5 impresses with its high-quality build and affordability, showcasing Dingwall's signature craftsmanship. It's lauded for its playability, comfortable design, and a fabulous low B string. The tonal range is extensive, thanks to well-placed Neodymium pickups and an effective EMG circuit. However, its compatibility with only a limited number of string manufacturers is a drawback. Despite this, it's recommended for its robust construction, vibrant sound, and impressive sustain, making it a worthwhile addition to any bassist's collection.

Dingwall Combustion 5 String

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Dingwall Combustion 5 String is celebrated for its exceptional value, offering premium features typically found in higher-end models. With fan-frets, a robust maple neck, and versatile electronics, it delivers a rich and powerful tone. While the fan-fret design may initially intimidate some, it quickly proves its worth. The craftsmanship is noteworthy, with North American materials and a final setup in Canada. The only downside? Once you experience its quality, you might find yourself wanting more Dingwalls in your collection. A compelling choice for bassists seeking quality without breaking the bank.

The current listing shows that Adam uses a Dingwall NG-3 signature bass, but this is incorrect. A determining feature of the NG-3 bass is a carbon fiber pick guard which is not visible on the purple Dingwall he plays on the video I provided. The bass he actually plays is a Dingwall Afterburner (probaby an ABZ) which is different even if similiar to the NG-3. A few other videos can be used as proof for that from his channel such as this one I played 23 Video Game Covers at the Bit Awards | Gig Vlog
