Beginner friendly and comfortable

As this is my first bass I don't have anything to compare to but I believe this a great bass for beginners, only four strings, is comfortable to hold and not too heavy. I like the shape and colour. What I dislike is how the manual that comes with the bass doesn't explain what the four knobs do and the amp it comes with is really bad, it has a lot of hum and the manual does a very lackluster job of explaining what the knobs on it do. Overall i believe this is an ideal bass for a beginner but you probably wouldn't want to perform with it.

Meh..

It's an ok bass, my first. The pickups are made cheaply so there's a lot of buzz coming from it. Also the neck doesn't feel right, i don't know what material it is.

My first and only bass currently...

Great for the price but did need some mods doing once it had arrived and been gig tested. I used to play this bass in the Hull punk band, Unwired Society and it served me well. Only con with this bass is the build quality, sometimes need to tighten stuff on it and the wood isn't great but its a bass and it works and sounds decent.

Okay bass for beginners

This is the first bassguitar and it works great for anyone who carers more about learning that the quality of the sound. Great for practising, maybe not for gigs.

itsjoeaeroquinn

Good, lightweight and has wide cutaways for easier access to the full fretboard.

I own 2, one in Sunburst and one in Cherry burst. A nice, classic look with a non-laquered maple neck for smooth playability.

At a Generation Sex concert at the Apollo in Manchester (July 23), Tony James' bass sound stood out. After messaging him on Twitter, he mentioned using a "Japanese bass that played really well." Through further research and discussions on Basschat, it was suggested that the bass was the Gear4Music Chicago Bass Guitar. A user-uploaded photo showed the bass with a distinctive Ronnie O'Sullivan headstock pic and a racing stripe, likely added to cover the Gear4Music logo. This bass is appreciated for its lightweight, easy playability, and remarkable sound, which may explain Tony's choice for live performances.
