I love mine, but sentimentally.
If you're a beginner and want something that you're buying new to learn on, don't buy one of these. Mine was given to me for free, and I have modded it beyond recognition, but the quality control on these things is non existent. The setup on. mine made the fretboard a mountain range, the nut is at a 45 degree angle from E string to G string, the original electronics were quiet and poor sounding, and there was no springs or foam to keep the pickups in place, amongst other things. I have made mine a bass that i love and that works for me, and i value the strength it gave me in my hands to play a neck so tough, but if you want something that will help your bass journey be as unhindered by the quality of your bass as possible, there are so much better options for you. Still love mine though, and take it if its cheap/free!
A not-so-decent starter Bass
I bought this Bass off Amazon in a starter kit including a little practice amp and, for a starter kit, it's a somewhat decent instrument. The neck profile is awfully thick, not-so-suited to smaller hands, the fretboard edges are quite sharp (however on my model I didn't find any sharp fret ends, which was pleasantly surprising), and the action is almost impossible to set right. Even though the neck is maple with a poplar fretboard, the neck is very flimsy, and the tension of the stings bows the neck forward, so to set it with a playable action you have to set the truss rod to bow backwards, and rely on the tension of the strings to pull the neck straight. The hardware is decent, though the tuner bushings seem to slip out of the headstock from time to time, and have to be hammered back in. The pickup sounds pretty good for this quality of an instrument: it's a seemingly low-output, darker sounding split coil pickup that does the job of Precision Bass tone pretty well. The pots are already on their way out, and I've only owned the bass for 2 years, but the input jack seems to be holding up.
So, overall, a decent starter bass, but I would highly recommend getting a Squier or Harley Benton as your first Bass.
Not a bad bass for it’s price range
A nice affordable bass, plays pretty well with a few adjustments, unless like me you don’t mind slightly higher action (that makes me sound like a dick) but it is a good beginner bass.
