Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Samsung Chromebook.

Features and functionality

  • The device lacks a touchscreen and fingerprint scanner, which some users find surprising for a "Plus" model.

    Source
  • The 1080p/60Hz screen can cause visible trailing behind text when scrolling, especially noticeable due to its 16:9 aspect ratio.

    Source
  • The HDMI port is notably tight, which could be a concern for frequent users.

    Source
  • The touchpad is highly responsive, with no missed clicks, enhancing user interaction.

    Source
  • The keyboard is comfortable with responsive keys, although the number pad feels cramped.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners note that the screen's 350 nits brightness is insufficient for well-lit environments, impacting the advertised battery life.

    Source
  • The Chromebook can get warm during use, with the fan activating more frequently than anticipated, which may be noticeable in quiet environments.

    Source
  • When switching between accounts, some applications may not be visible until selected from the overview screen, indicating a possible software glitch.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Criticism arises over the perceived underperformance and high price, with concerns about the 12th Gen CPU and only 8GB RAM for $700.

    Source
  • Owners find it a compelling choice at discounted prices, like €500 or $450, but question its value at full MSRP without higher resolution or touchscreen.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Ideal for browser-based tasks with Google Docs and Drive, the device handles these efficiently despite the Core i3 CPU.

    Source
  • Users can power three external monitors and maintain performance with 20+ tabs open, highlighting its capability for multitasking.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • ChromeOS users report seamless transitions from Windows and Mac, utilizing both Linux and Android apps effectively for desktop-class applications.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Users find the Asus Expertbook 14" preferable due to its 16:10 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate, which offers a better display experience than the Samsung's 1080p/60Hz.

    Source
  • The 15.6" 1080p OLED screen is praised for media but criticized for text clarity compared to the original Galaxy Chromebook's 13" 4K display.

    Source
  • Users compare the Chromebook unfavorably to the original Galaxy Chromebook, noting a perceived decline in build quality and the absence of a 4K screen.

    Source

Build quality

  • The screen flickers at low brightness levels, which may cause discomfort. This issue could be related to OLED PWM or adaptive brightness settings.

    Source
  • The Chromebook Plus shares its chassis with the Galaxy Book2 Pro, offering a solid build but noted plastic top, contrasting with previous models' thinner, touch-friendly designs.

    Source
  • The device can be picked up by a corner without any flex, but the ultra-thin screen may be delicate if not closed properly.
