Nice sounding tremolo

I never used this in stereo and just sold it for its lack of tap tempo, but has a superlative sound quality, if feels very warm.

BTW: hey, admins, this is not MXR, but Dunlop! Though they later launched a similar tremolo based on this one above MXR's brand.

Very nice delay unit

After many delays at my feet I've finally ended up with a Strymon TimeLine unit and the only sound that I miss from previous delays I had is the one from this Visual Sound unit with some of its modulation past noon and some tweaking with its tone knob to make it sound darker (but it's always clear), it has a deep and warm character that fits well to my taste, really sweet.

Time got over it

It's a classic from a past where it came to set its concept as a standard for then on, but then time came with alternatives that can just put this unit into shame. Today there's no much to think about between this and TC's Flashback X4 in the same price range: the X4 gives longer loop time, better sounds, MIDI capabilities, more presets, more tempo flexibility (dotted eights!), TonePrints, updates, and all of that in an even much clearer interface and streamlined design.

Reliable volume pedal

This unit it's up to Bespeco's reputation: it's not fancy about its purposes, it just works, and it lasts, you can trust their products.

Finally!

Though it doesn't sound exactly as its big brother, EHX says that it has an improved algorithm compared to the Micro POG, I just think that it sounds different), it seems to be a better option for over populated pedalboards due to its practical size.

Versatile controls, nice shimmery mode, nasty spring simulation

It has many modes including some usable (hall), some meh (plate), some awkward (spring), and, at last, its gorgeous one which most justifies its digital nature: a very nice sounding modulated reverb (think of an angelically chorused one)! Tweaking decay and level helps a lot about manipulating the intensity of the effect while tone helps a lot about defining its character (darker or with more presence/sharpness). Nice spillover bypass.

Terrible design

It's from awkward to useless if you wish to hold a position for a time as it just can stand with your foot out of it at zero. It can't even get back properly to its place, is such a nice idea but with basic flaws that turns it into something of very limited usability, it's frustrating.

Voiced distortion with versatile dynamics

It gives a bold and warm response when set at neutral eq positions and then it can bring a very sharp character by pushing the treble control. The Dirty Deed is capable of serious gain (even fuzzy if you want) while remaining usable at lower settings as an overdrive too (but not a "transparent" one! this is indeed a very voiced unit –as all MOSFET units I know). It cleans so nice with low input that it can handle an always-on status if you rely on your picking and/or volume controls to achieve different intensities. I needed a smaller replacement for my old Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive and it ended up making its way to my pedalboard with no regrets. I prefer to feed it with 9V because of the sound it achieves with it though it can handle up to 18V. I played with this at home through my Vox AC4C1 with a MF Boost before and sometimes with a Marshall MG100DFX combo, and it also worked well the first time I tried it in the store –there I just plugged it in front of a forgettable solid state amp stacking it in the middle with a Boss SD-1 in the middle (which resulted in another usable voice too).

Gorgeous booster

It has a nice behavior with anything you put in front of it, it adds volume output to make anything sound full (balls!) with no added grit (though it could obviously cause your amp or other gains stages to do that). I use it through my FX loop to increase my output volume. Is a very useful tool as it excels on the regular application that one expects from (clean) boosters but also stands ahead of the rest with its PrimeTime feature (dual action switch that works as momentary or permanent depending on your foot action if you just quickly tap or if you hold it pressed), this nice bonus just sets it apart from any of its competitors by offering a peculiar approach of inspiring potential.

This is what I use to turn my volume pedal to control CV inputs

The cable is fine but the plugs seem to be a bit bigger than the standard as it requires an unusual pressure to place them, so I'm afraid that these may break jacks and I won't ever buy Kirlin cables again just because of it.

Clean digital octaves

It sounds nice, I had the Nano version too but this one sounds a little nicer to me. I first replaced it by an EQD Organizer as that sounds warmer, but it has some lag while the POG is absolutely immediate about its tracking. Now I got back to EHX with a B9 as it has an octave mode that tracks as immediate as as the POG but with a warmer and more organic sound (plus it has a lot other peculiar sounds).

Not recommended if you want wi-fi and bluetooth

It looks cute (though it has several flaws to be pointed) but I still can't believe how they released this product that still has this giant bug even after multiple updates.

Nice wildcard to try effects, sadly Line 6 never gave firmware updates to make it better

I had this unit for a short time with the purpose of testing different effects. That was during a transition period between my projects which led me to touch a little of my rig configuration.

The distortions have some character but are still sterile, while I found no sweet spots on the reverbs and the delays may be fine but I gave those little consideration due to being covered there with other pedals there, I took advantage on the possibility of trying different filters due to my idea of getting into wah or whammys, which I've never had a good relation with but started to have some interest on.

The pitch glide turned to be nice for me, and with the expression pedal you can choose different kind of configurations that refines subtle tweaks that you can't make on the original Whammys. I ended with a Whammy 4 after making this my favorite application of the M5 and I must tell that between the two things I've just chosen the Whammy mainly for a matter of footprint on my pedalboard (the Whammy 5 may offer a definitively better behavior about the polyphonic tracking).

Most modulation effects sound very clean and with some lack of texture/depth –as happens with most digital modulation effects– but I really could make myself the idea of buying the unit again to stick with it if someday they upgrade its firmware to allow setting the modulation effects' rate in ms/BPM as it's already possible with delays. By now I just have to cross my fingers about finding a Guyatone Ultrem or maybe getting a Strymon Mobius just for this tiny feature they had and the M5 lacks of. I have other advanced ideas they could perform with firmware updates, but with that basic point I would just give my bucks away for it again.

Pretty little sounding all-tube amp for home practice

I wanted a round response for my setup at home situation (you know! neighbors!) and this fits perfectly to that purpose. I've also considered Hiwatt's T10 Combo because of its nice clean sound and effects loop but chosen this Vox AC4 for its tonal response as it results a lot more usable to me at higher gain settings and has two knobs to adjust bass and treble instead of a single general tone control.

Useful tone grit shaping tool

I've chosen this old red version against the new one because of its height (the V2 version's back is too tall), the issue that it looks a lot more classier than the V2 too, and also the more trustable and comfortable action of its bypass switches (V2 switches feels awkward, the –now: coming soon– V3 seems to solve that). It is a strong tool as its versatility just can give a nice sounding response with almost whatever setup you throw around it if you just happen to know how to deal with classic controls options, it just may take too much space from your board (again: the Visual Sound's / Truetone's V3 series give a response to that issue).

Unique delay. Poor looper for its price, reputation and potential.

Everything about the delays in general is perfect, it's organic and versatile –though it has a peculiar modulation to it which may not be the most amazing one, and then the Digital machine is currently having some error(s) which we expect to be solved with a future firmware update as by now it lacks the pristine clear repeats that one should be able to achieve from it. It is sad to find a looper asking for a MIDI connection to unlock its full functionality while other options gives them out even with less switches (you know… the regular little Ditto is by far a more complete looper in terms of possibilities, even when it has just one switch!).

Hey so was this hard to find? I was reading Noel Gallagher in an interview was saying there were only a limited number made, and that there was a waiting list. What was your experience?

Hey, g, I live in Argentina so many things are really hard to find around here (there's no official local retailers/distributors of Strymon) but I think that nowadays they had already achieved a production level at the size of its demand. I bought it recently used from a guy that had the chance to get during an international trip. Update edition: now we have an official distributor here in Buenos Aires.

Super flexible and friendly option for phase modulation

For their last tremolos (TRS-4 and TRS-5) and phaser (this one!) Dedalo introduced a very practical "control" switch which works as tap tempo and/or to gradually accelerate to top-speed by holding it (it gradually returns to the previous speed when released). I tend to take more advantage of the tap tempo feature with the tremolo while I use the acceleration much more on the MOD-5 to achieve that expressive resource. It sounds clear and seems to play better after gain stages (therefore I place it in my FX loop). As usual, there are the extra features that Dedalo tends to give which in this case is a knob for two more modes other than the classic one: we can choose step phaser (there is an additional knob for choosing the quantity between two to seven) and a "manual" mode that gives us the option to shift the phase by pressing the "control" switch, there's also a knob to tweak the LFO's symmetry for the "classic" mode.

This one is weightless and keeps everything tight!

I could have bought the Pedaltrain Pro or the Pedaltrain 1 for a minor price but in the end I preferred this one as it has the benefit of a sub-level to place power supplies with velcro too (there's actually a lot of space down there). Its angle results comfortable as this elevates the bottom pedals gently while keeping a low profile for the front. The bag has enough place to pack one or two additional expression pedals for the occasions when I expand my setup (then I use those over the floor) and also a gentle pocket for cables, accessories or even more pedals.
