Voiced distortion with versatile dynamics
It gives a bold and warm response when set at neutral eq positions and then it can bring a very sharp character by pushing the treble control. The Dirty Deed is capable of serious gain (even fuzzy if you want) while remaining usable at lower settings as an overdrive too (but not a "transparent" one! this is indeed a very voiced unit –as all MOSFET units I know). It cleans so nice with low input that it can handle an always-on status if you rely on your picking and/or volume controls to achieve different intensities. I needed a smaller replacement for my old Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive and it ended up making its way to my pedalboard with no regrets. I prefer to feed it with 9V because of the sound it achieves with it though it can handle up to 18V. I played with this at home through my Vox AC4C1 with a MF Boost before and sometimes with a Marshall MG100DFX combo, and it also worked well the first time I tried it in the store –there I just plugged it in front of a forgettable solid state amp stacking it in the middle with a Boss SD-1 in the middle (which resulted in another usable voice too).
