Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

Seymour Duncan's Dirty Deed distortion pedal is a hard-rocking, compact unit that delivers a powerful punch. With its true-bypass design and easy-to-use controls, the pedal is versatile enough to cover everything from classic rock to metal. Its MOSFET transistors deliver amp-like vibes and sustain, while the active EQ offers significant tonal shaping. Although it's not the cheapest pedal on the market, its robust design and sound make it a worthy investment for rock enthusiasts. The only potential downside is its inherent grittiness, which might not suit those seeking subtle tone shaping.

Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Distortion review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Distortion (DDD) pedal offers a robust, amp-like distortion that's perfect for classic rock tones. Its MOSFET transistor-based circuit delivers a full-bodied gain at any drive level, making it a favorite among distortion pedals. The active EQ controls allow for versatile sound shaping, keeping the distortion clear and dynamic without fizzing out. While it excels when paired with a clean valve amp, its low-gain performance might be limiting if used with humbuckers. Despite this minor drawback, the DDD is praised for its rich gain and low noise, making it a top choice for rock enthusiasts.

Review: Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Distortion Pedal | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Distortion pedal is a powerhouse, delivering a rich, thick, and dynamic overdrive that enhances guitar and amp tones without turning them into mush. Its simple controls and compatibility with both nine- and 18-volt power supplies make it versatile and user-friendly. However, while it nails the classic AC/DC vibe, some purists might find it lacks a unique signature sound. Overall, it's a robust pedal for those seeking that classic rock grit with clarity.

Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed Pedal

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Seymour Duncan Dirty Deed pedal impresses with its versatile distortion capabilities, offering tones from mild overdrive to fierce rock distortion. Its robust construction and thoughtful design, including True Bypass and dual MOSFET circuitry, provide an amp-like feel across all settings. The pedal’s active EQ controls allow for precise tone shaping, making it adaptable for various genres. While it excels as a transparent boost and can transform even modest amps into powerhouse rigs, the review doesn't explore the 18v power option. Despite this minor oversight, the Dirty Deed is praised as a reliable, professional-grade pedal at a competitive price.

Voiced distortion with versatile dynamics

It gives a bold and warm response when set at neutral eq positions and then it can bring a very sharp character by pushing the treble control. The Dirty Deed is capable of serious gain (even fuzzy if you want) while remaining usable at lower settings as an overdrive too (but not a "transparent" one! this is indeed a very voiced unit –as all MOSFET units I know). It cleans so nice with low input that it can handle an always-on status if you rely on your picking and/or volume controls to achieve different intensities. I needed a smaller replacement for my old Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive and it ended up making its way to my pedalboard with no regrets. I prefer to feed it with 9V because of the sound it achieves with it though it can handle up to 18V. I played with this at home through my Vox AC4C1 with a MF Boost before and sometimes with a Marshall MG100DFX combo, and it also worked well the first time I tried it in the store –there I just plugged it in front of a forgettable solid state amp stacking it in the middle with a Boss SD-1 in the middle (which resulted in another usable voice too).
