Mentioned in his interview with Freboard Journal, Mason's '52 Tele had previously been stripped, repainted with automotive paint, and left in a barn for 45 years before he purchased it and had it restored.
In an interview with Fretboard Journal, Mason is quoted as saying "He was building a couple of other guitars he was showing to me, but in the back, he was working on just a white Tele. It was plain, not a relic, nothing special about it." as to how he had acquired his white Telecaster. Since then the guitar has undergone a plethora of modifications, such as a Guyatone Gold Foil neck pickup, and more recently a G and B-bender.
