Just impresive!
In my frustration at not being able to get a Fender Runaway Feedback I purchased this Digitech Freqout and it is honestly better than I expected.
It is not exactly the same tone/sound as the Runaway because that one sounds more natural but it is monophonic and that limits the possibilities of use.
On the other hand, Freqout is polyphonic but sounds unrealistic. Don't get me wrong, I like it and it serves me well. I don't need purism or reality, just good and better results. And Freqout achieves them.
Cool, not the same.
As the rhythm guitarist in a band completely on IEMs and modelers with no cabs on stage, this is an excellent solution for that little bit of added character to a song. That being said, it's not the same as actual feedback.
It takes a little bit to get the hang of, if you release a note in specific ways the feedback will try and follow you occasionally giving a swoop up when you're not playing. A little bit of know-how and practice solves this. It has it's quirks, but it serves a purpose and does the job fairly well in my rig.

Lush Sound but feel they missed a trick
An extra dial to control how feedback sustains, and sensitivity decoupled from the output gain control would be great. Separate attack and Fade out too would be great, and an option to not immediately kill feedback when changing note
Solid build, you can learn to control how the pedal sustains or doesn't, and the gain at which it hears stop or ignore note vs sustain a note, but it takes time.
Still a great pedal.

Freakin' awesome
I tested it in first of my signal chain, second to my drive/boost, in the fx loop. I left it at the very first position because it's where I fell it acts more naturally, feed-backing straight into my Brothers makes it sound really authentic. Playing clean gives you kind of a soft"flutie" synth tone, and while it's not that natural you can make some pretty interesting sounds with it, I'm enjoying it at low gain and fast attack with some delay. The natural-low mode is cool if you're playing a minor tune since it avoids major thirds. Has it's learning curve, but once you get acquainted with it, it's pretty useful and sound really well. Love the LED's! Put some dirt after it and you're ready to rock n'roll with really authentic sounding feedback. It doesn't get 5 stars because there is no way to smoothly fade out the feedback, sometimes it just drops dead and it's a bit tricky to get a hang of it. If you use a boost or compressor I would recommend placing it before the Freqout, as it will make the feedback more stable.

New type of effect, highly recommended
This pedal already won several prizes for a reason. It is a brand new effect, a breakthrough, and no chineze maker still haven't copied it yet. Apart from creating feedback without amplifier (useful when recording direct) you can cook many different strange sounds that you cannot make in any other way. Durable and relatively easy to use, but it takes a whole lot of learning how to play with this pedal as it's not a straightforward effect. In short - go and get it, it worth the money.
i have no idea how it works
i have no idea how it works but its really fun to plug in a kalimba and run it thru this and then a distortion
