Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

Either Michael or Gchiaren, could either of you find out what the previous source was? I'm quite sure my previous source was accurate, and i'm extremely meticulous when it comes to my submissions, so this worries me.

EDIT: NEVERMIND, GUYS

Found the image via cache. Just for myself (in case this guy decides to just screw up a perfectly good submission):

Source: http://images.equipboard.com/uploads/source/image/37126/big_big_Muse-Chris-Wolstenholme-SNL-06-10-12.jpg?v=1466229410

Notes: In this article by Home Brew Audio, the authour explains the origins of the instrument that Chris used to perform the song Madness on Saturday Night Live. While he has used the original on the "Madness" music video, the one he uses live is a double-neck version with a Status Graphite S2-Classic bass on the bottom. The article explains in detail the purpose of the instrument in the song.

An Equipboard scavenger hunt! Artist gear missing proof...

No source for the Holy Grail or Zvex Tremolo Probe. They probably weren't on Jack's pedalboard to begin with.

Source: Image

Notes: When touring with The White Stripes, Jack had used two pedalboards. Both of these had a POG by Electro-Harmonix. Source

Source: Video

Notes: In this performance by Avicii back in 2013, he used two CDJ 2000's.

Gotta work on the other later. Avicii is difficult... that's for sure.

Dropping in. Pretty cool idea, but I haven't seen those submissions in a looong time. They're hiding somewhere...

If you could drop a few artist names with submissions with missing proof, etc, that'd be great.

Perhaps, but the fact that you took the time to make a post to rectify your mistake says a lot about your character. Glad to have another member as well!

Oh damn, I haven't heard about the Evertune bridge since the guitarists from Rise Against did their Rig Rundown. How's it working for you?

Edit: These earphones are extremely uncomfortable... great sound quality for loud metal and such, but a bit too much bass for any clean and fun records.

You know, I just got an Audio Technica ATH-CKX9. Literally my first pair of "high-grade" earphones.

Damn, these things are much bassier than the Apple Earpods. That and the jack does this weird crackly thing when I rotate it, and it sometimes cuts the sound down... THESE ARE BRAND NEW

Duke, i've no idea. Honestly, i'e only heard the rumour. And shit, I didn't even knowthey were touring. Plus, it's at the Teragram next month. I went there to see We Were Promised Jetpacks. Headliner was some cool indie shoegaze or aomething band. Loved the venue. Forze up when I saw the Jetpacks singer. It's like seeing a damn unicorn: You don't expect it to actually exist!

I'll buy a tickey and go see them. I'm eager to take pictures!

Yes, you are correct. Also, good morning (even though it's already 0930 hours here)!

Walrus, keep us updated. I'll very curious.

Nope. It's a seriously insane mod of a Jaguar bass. The PJ pickup configuration is on there, but he somehow made it a six-string. That's what i've been hearing around.

What an odd-looking instrument... It almost seems like the right horn is larger than the left. Makes it looks kind of awkward to even carry.

Ah well. Thank you, kind sir.

Aaaand that's all the photos showing that guitar. Nothing else, but I did find something interesting! Take a look here.

Also, what kind of Squier is this: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5561/14191992824_665c84442a.jpg

I heard somewhere that the bass was a mod from an original Jazzmaster or something of the sort. Can't remember where.

Greco's close, but not quite there. The knob configuration isn't right.

Quick question: Does this count as a source? I'm really strict about forums, but this may be an exception. Not sure, though.

Another thing, could a mod please delete this sumbission?

New Practise Amp!

Boom, if I wanted to get 500 watts of amp, then i'd go and smash guitars and do rock operas, while losing my hearing in the process.

I said PRACTISE amp, mate. For guitar! 500 watts would blow my neighbour's faces off. Nice try, though. I'm sure Townshend would approve of your suggestion.

Blackstar, eh? You happen to try one out? I haven't played through one before, so i'm curious.

Thanks, Walrus. That just leaves the other two instruments in the last picture.

Here are the submissions made based on the answers: Tim's Schecter, and Stuart's Taylor.

New Practise Amp!

A sort of continuation of the thread-jack over at the General forum...

I really would like to get a new combo amp, but I don't need a big stage amp just yet. I really just need a sort of tiny amp that I can use to practise, but also crank just loud enough for small gigs if necessary. I'm not going straight into buying an amp now, but i'll use your suggestions and advice soon enough.

So, here's the criteria: -Small enough to carry around without too much hassle (Think the size of a Frontman 25R or less). -Tube or solid, not that important -Controls to a minimum. Drive channel, definitely. Reverb, optional. Anything else is really pushing it. -React well with pedals... please. - Clean < Drive, because I rely on pedals quite often, but I also like a good, straight clean sound

I think that's it. Let me know if I missed anything.

Doesn't sound like 2015. Like it sprang from the 90's or something with a modern twist. Where am I hearing all these random indie album that sound like they came from a different era? They're good, it's just weird hearing them.

These three have me hooked:

Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

I'll start a new thread in a bit (or you can. Your choice if i'm late). Just yesterday, I ordered my first CD:

Not the vinyl, but ONE DAY! It's the the new album Bones of a Dying World by If These Trees Could Talk. I was so excited to her this, and get this:

Reignwolf released a teaser for a new album!!

10yabout 10 years ago

Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

I can probably imagine that. I should try that on my family,

I have looked at the other suggestions you made, but there's two things preventing me from considering them. Either they have too many knobs and features that are all completely useless to me, or they're too big. I still have to take these to a music class. The Fender I own is smaller than most of those you suggested, and it's massive and heavy. I'm not trying to sound like a wimp here, I could easily carry it if I were going to a gig, but for practise? Nope.

Shame... that Sunn looks magnificent.

Oh, have you seen Vox's two other AC amps? The other two have a gain knob on it, so I was a bit curious.

10yabout 10 years ago

Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

Leave it to Jim to answer a recommendation with an article on historical amplifiers and such.

Joking, of course. This is pretty good. Considering everything, i'm pretty much narrowing it down to the AC4TV and that Lead 12. I really just need something small that's focused on cleans and can still take dirt, but for practise. I also kind of want to try this:

http://www.drewsblues.net/pub/img/gear/VOX-AC4TV-Reverb-Mod-013.jpg

Wouldn't that be cool? But imagine this: Instead of a reverb, something like a a Boss Blues Driver. I'm not sure what Vox amps like to chew on for overdrive, though. It'd be an added bonus if it can handle a lot of other pedals, but but that's very optional right now. I feel like I need to start going grassroots with my practise: clean tones plus overdrive. Reverb optional. Nothing more.

What's with the Marshall? $110 plus $60 shipping? That's fairly unsettling. There are some good reviews, but nothing in-depth.

10yabout 10 years ago

Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

Hye, since you're here, have you happened to try out Vox's Pathfinder amp? I remember someone talked about it in this forum, but I can't remember where, and I was thinking of getting a good, tiny, quality practise amp.

10yabout 10 years ago

Anyone bought any new cds or downloaded anything or gowever you get your music?

Haha, no, I just have specific tastes when it comes to such things, but I usually keep it to myself. It has to be said sometime, eh, Jim? And when we do, we become the web fascists and grammar nazis!

Yeah, i'm still learning, sorry. But either way, I grew up watching musicians standing, so musicians sitting is pretty foreign to me.

How to get this sound? - Post here to get ideas on how your favourite band gets their sound.

Hey, guys. I'm a bit stumped here, and this is as close a thread I can use besides making a new one. I'm not looking for gear sound, but a guide on how to do this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYpydJm3L4A

So, I just listened to this performance and I want to try out that repeated verse the the guitarist (Tim Collis) does. Someone already made a tab of this song on Ultimate Guitar, so i'm just wondering if you guys have any tips on getting this right.

So the very first bar is what i'm doing now, and i'm slowly speeding up. Only problem is that it's a bit messy to do. So any tips?

Help me plan my pedal board

You should get a smaller board, then. That Classic Pro is too massive to fit such few pedals. You have five rails when you're probably only going to use three. A Metro 24 would work out great with only three rails but plenty of width. Or a Classic 2 with a fourth rail to fit more on the top rail in case you want to add more pedals.

Google "Lianne La Havas live"

Let me tell you something. I work at a sporting goods store (that, unfortunately, is closing), and they play a CD with all of the most terrible top 40 songs possible with a few exceptions. I always heard her sing "What You Don't Do" extremely loud and it sounded terrible. Made me want to shoot whoever made the song or condemned us to listen to it.

SHit, I just listened to it with earphones and I love it. I have a new artist to listen to :)

10yabout 10 years ago

Eh, the Station album. Honestly, I found that record a bit distasteful. After moving from Enter, it felt kind of empty. Russian Circles certainly knew how to tell a story with Enter, but Station seems different. I'll have to take a gander at it again.

Ah, This WIll Destroy You. Very notable album. I think I found that from YouTube. The album art always hooks me. Only thing I hate about this band is... this:

http://images.equipboard.com/uploads/source/image/15573/tumblr_llid1w93mt1qdujoi.jpg?v=1436901170

No, it's not his face. He plays and SITS. I personally have quite a hatred to that, but that's just my opinion.

I love Sunn 0)))

Recommendations, mate. I just started listening to their collaboration with Boris. My favourite has to be Sinking Belle... beautiful piece. I have an affinity for songs like those.

TTNG

I've only listened to their First Demo EP, which hooked me pretty fast. It's amazing how clean and orderly Tim's playing is. It's also refreshing to find an album where it's just guitars pushed into a cranked amp.

Yo, again, recommendations. Our tastes are pretty similar.

It's a Harmony Alden Stratotone. Looks like this:

Notice the headstock design:

Also found an extra article with some other stuff:

"My guitar is a Danelectro, and it’s a Silvertone model from 1964, and it’s a hollow body."

Source. Article also has the two amps she uses (one for live, one for practise).
