Would you kindly change this submission so that instead of a duplicate, it shows the original Fender Twin rather than the duplicate, please? And while you're at it, please delete the duplicate.

Identifying the gear

Hey, guys, I have an extremely difficult one here. There's a japanese guitarist who put up his pedalboard which was pretty cool to see. But right after, he posted this. Besides the blurb about the phaser and LS-2, he says that all his Boss pedals have something called a "WAXX MOD".

So... what is it?

Funky Guitars!

Or realy just awesome looking guitars you happen to find around by little-known luthiers. Post! I keep seeing some of these luthiers make some fantastic creations. Case in point, NAMM 14' had this:

I'm listening to the bar gig now. It's not that bad. I'm just wondering why this was shot with a potato. What's with people filming with potatoes? Where the hell do you get them!?

Edit: Oh God, that harmonica...

Didn't you used to go on Gearslutz and that sort? Kinda seemed like you were remembering that. Anyways, water under the river. I'll fill you in once the parts arrive.

Cleaning up the "needs review" for submissions

Ah, I was referring to when I respond to people who make crap submissions. Forums, well that's for you lot to judge.

Gear Purchases

if your goals are mainly educational then proceed

You hit the nail on the head, mate. If anything, I'm only saving $20 at the least, which is hardly much. I rarely get to solder and understand these kinds of parts. Plus, I need a preliminary for when I start doing bigger mods. How can I start those if I skipped out making something as simple as a two-button footswitch? I've got to start somewhere, and this is a good, small DIY project. Maybe in the future, I can try other and bigger projects!

Parts are on the way. In total, I have two momentary SPDT footswitches, one A-sized enclosure, and four feet of wire (two of which is red, the other black). All ordered bulk from Small Bear.

Cleaning up the "needs review" for submissions

I'd love to throw myself into this arena. Count me in for consideration as a moderator. Besides myself, I see Jim, Walrus, Ridwan, Lex (who are all on this thread) as well as Luxiu. Let me know if I missed anyone. And as for bitterness and such, let it be known that I only count people that don't respond to comments and REPEATEDLY make mistakes as the people on my black list. If anything, I've come to realise I can do nothing more than to mark their mistakes and walk away.

I guess i'm starting to calm down a bit. Time to really tone it down and quit my bitching. :D

But moderating? What fun that'll be, knowing that this site can be completely refurbished with plenty of eager help from friends on the site. I'd love to work with you guys/

On a side note, Ridwan, would you please remember to add full stops after your sentences? It's a bit of a problem on your submissions.

Gear Purchases

Unfortunately yes. Luckily, I haven't damaged the package so i'll just return it.

Then again, the X-wing footswitch is the exact same price. Since when was all this stuff so expensive?! Small Bear has one for $2, so I guess that's a bit better. I just need to know if the x-wing footswitches and enclosure would work out. If so, i'll just order immediately.

Gear Purchases

So, I now have one stereo 1/4" input jack from All-Parts in my hand. $4.50. I had no idea it would be that expensive...

Anyways, that leaves the two SPDT footswitches. One from Mammother Electronics and another from Small Bear Electronics which is an "x-wing" version. Not really sure what that means, though. Only thing i've heard is it makes for more space.

One more thing: As for enclosures, i'm taking a page from the schematic. I've found an A-size enclosure, which seems good considering I won't need to install those toggle switches.

10yabout 10 years ago

Gear Purchases

Just started the list. So I found a schematic for what it should look like.

http://cdn.instructables.com/FPB/68UP/HQOAIF3Q/FPB68UPHQOAIF3Q.LARGE.jpg

So, this is the first time i'm seeing a schematic, but I think I have a good idea. One quick thing, though. I'd like to skip using a toggle switch and rather keep it normally closed. Is it possible to skip using those toggles? I'm kind of on the fence here, really it depends on whether those shorty toggles can fit side-by-side on the top of the pedal.

I'd give more details, but i'm just a bit busy, so here's the cart of materials i'm planning on getting:

Two X-Wing Momentary DPDT switches

Two SPDT Shorty toggles; (On-On) 0218B

One 1/4 in. Stereo Enclosed Jack

The only thing left is the enclosure and toggle switch covers. Not sure where to get those, or what they are.

Edit: Allparts okay? I know the local music shop sells a few parts from that company, so I might check that out first.

Two momentary switches, normally closed (according to an individual who created a clone specifically for the RC-3), single stereo plug. I have a soldering iron and know how to use it, so that's all cleared up.

Now I just need to make a Boss FS-6 clone. Honestly, i'd love to just get a Loopmaster but I think I should get the experience. I'll pin that on my list porjects next to "Upgrade Hagstrom electronics" and "Find replacement humbuckers".

It's a TU-2. The TU-3's have more LED's.

Gear Purchases

It's been two weeks, mate. You still going to bed or did time stop!?

Okay, so I figured I might present a situation here. This is my pedalboard. I need a dual footswitch for that looper for ease of use. SO, I bought a Boss FS-6 and it's way too big. SO, here are my questions:

Can I use a different footswitch other than the recommended Boss footswitches for the Boss looper?

Could the Saturnworks amp switcher work as a footswitch for pedals?

What does "normally close/open" mean?

Please excuse me if these questions seem simple... i'm asking you guys now so I don't look like a fool in real life. Thanks, guys!

Best post rock bands

If you find any other bands, let me know. I thrive on discovering new music as well.

10yabout 10 years ago

Sound like Alex Turner

You actually planning on getting an amplifier anytime soon? My 2¢, and I said it somewhere else but I forgot where so i'll just paraphrase myself:

Trying to get better pedals and guitars with a practise amplifier is like buying lots of beautiful furniture and a chandelier and attempting to make it all look nice in a dirty, decrepit apartment. A good amplifier will bring out the best tone possible anything.

I think that was what I said. Eh, close enough. Probably an improvement, really.

But yeah, listen to Jim. He know what he's talking about.

10yabout 10 years ago

How to get this sound? - Post here to get ideas on how your favourite band gets their sound.

Coldplay, anyone?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_7jJ0sO0Yg

Anyways, it's those beginning chords that I wonder, how Jonny gets such a modulated, synthy sound. The same sound can be heard on the acoustic version. I'm 50% sure it's a synth backing up the guitar, but if it's the guitar making such a sound, I MUST know how that is possible!

Ew, never could stand playlists made on Youtube.

Okay, I know this is a month old, but let me just revive this thread to send something close to post-rock, kind sorta not really, but I think you might enjoy it.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

Also, I would like to say that we should ban people from posting things to Equipboard. There are many people here who've done more harm than good, having posted submissions with wrong items and wrong sources and with poor grammar.

.

I didn't even read that carefully, jeez, can we keep kids off the internet, please?

.

facedesks repeatedly The members of this website do realize that Equipboard is for MUSIC based submissions right?

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

At first, I thought it was nothing, but it seems to be some sort of mistake in the website where the original dash-mark wasn't recognised and became a question mark. Not to mention all the artists with no gear or images for them aligned to the band.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

So, I just clicked on some profiles and a few were closed. Here's the list I could find:

teslawouldbeproud, itislean, and bordercity. All three acounts closed.

Julianwolf and Nick Farr still seem to be with us, submitting and all. Ssquires, leisurelyrecs, and modman haven't submitted in a very long time. Boom of course comes on the forums, just hasn't submitted in ten months.

Huh...

Well makes sense for Nick and Tesla since we've talked to them, they're probably busy or, as you said, on tour. Everyone else... they just kind of disappeared.

Hey, since you're active again, I was wondering whay happened to some of your other moderators? People like ssquieres, austinmw, nikfarr, modman, even teslawouldbeproud (to name a few). It seems like they all disappeared minus you and Michael.

Identifying the gear

Please do not forget to submit the Planet Waves Screeching Halt that's on the soundhole. I know it seems small and uninteresting, but you guys have to understand that gives people like myself a good idea of who, how many, and sometimes why artists use certain gear. A large amount of artists submitted as using the Screeching Halt is good information I and many other can use.

Also, that's a Kyser Quick-Change Capo right there on the headstock.

Identifying the gear

Yellow Boss pedal on the top-right is the AC-3 Acoustic Simulator. Far left side, two white Boss pedals with red and green knobs. Those are LS-2 Line Selectors. Pedal just to the right of the LS-2's is the old paint version of the Seymour Duncan SFX-01 Pickup Booster. The text on it gives it away. See the Boss pedal on the top-left side? The one that says "DELAY"? That's a Boss DM-3. Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ powers them all. No idea what that one on the top-right side is, though.

To add to the Walrus:

Screenshot the inage. Upload to Microsoft Paint. Crop well. Save. Upload to Inmgur. OPEN INAGE IN NEW TAB. Paste image link as source for submissions.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

We used to have a moderation proccess, but EquipBoard grew way too quickly and the ratio between users submitting to moderators was too high.

Here's an easter egg: check an artist page. Notice there's two tabs on the top just below the photo? One says "Pending Submissions". Click it. It's a remnant of the old EB (which admittedly is not that old).

I'd also like to point out to you lot that it's 0055 hours here. With that said, I should sleep.

Strumming counter to another guitarist

Yeah, about that...

We're sort of deviating from the regular model, however difficult it is. Either way, what i'm describing isn't really supposed to override the vocals. It's just meant as creative rhythm playing to support what is an average four chord strum pattern.

10yabout 10 years ago

Strumming counter to another guitarist

Church doesn't pay musicians.

10yabout 10 years ago

Strumming counter to another guitarist

Precisely. Think Wolves by Bon Iver. He did this with most orher songs where recorded his guitar twice and just layered the two together. Of course, the intro of the song doesn't have much happening, but those few moments where one guitar alternates between the other is a really good method.

I think I have a good idea of what to do. Once I meet up o practise, we'll see what we can do. Any more responses are welcome. I appreciate the help, guys!
