I was actually going to say that'd be a bit much to spend on vintage, but I just checked the prices now. To think a 70's silverface Princeton Reverb is only a a few hundred more than the brand new reissue is certainly a deal to me.

I also see there's a massive debate between blackface and silverface. I wouldn't suppose you have a weigh in that discussion?

I had planned on using the Vox for home practise and occasional live use. I have in the back of my mind of saving up within the coming years and getting a Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb (or just keep waiting and end up splurging on big brother Custom Deluxe Reverb). I really like the sound on it, but I also like this Vox.

Maybe... maybe I can do a stereo set-up with two different amps? I'm curious what that'd be like. Anyways, worlds away when I have enough money to do that and maybe do a doom set-up on the side :)

It's a Hagström guitar. I want to say it's a Retroscape, but no Hagström I've seen has the knob configuration near the bottom.

Thing is, both Hagström and Guild have used that tailpiece, so it's hard finding the original guitar...

EDIT: The tailpiece was originally made by Hagström.

According to my research, the Deucetone Rat has gotten me the closest to a metal tone that a Vox amp can get XD

I'm really enjoying this pedal as well as all the trading up in /r/letstradepedals. Great place.

Hey, guys, I'm heading off to Lake Arrowhaed and I won't be back until Sunday, so I probably won't be on very much. Hopefully I can talk later, but anyways; have a good weekend!

Nostalgic Music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzwOeONBhQ

I didn't really have a lot of music playing around me. My two older sisters had their boy bands and 2000's biggest hits, etc. I just found this on YouTube and I was excited by what I heard. Frankly, I still am. I'm sure there's some other random crap I heard that, if I dig hard enough, might just find. Anyways, this is the earliest song I can remember ever being fascinated by.

OFF TOPIC

Actually, yes, but I think it was informal. I was told that when I was in elemantary school, some doctor may have told my parents I had it. I think they took me to some focus testing thing or another...

Anyways, imagine how it felt when your parents tell you about this and only just tell you the reason was something maybe called attention... something disorder? Attention... defecit disorder. There we go. Wow, thanks, guys. I had something called ADD and you never said anything about. Wonderful.

That, and a friend at church noticed too. He has it, and he's noticed my little habits that I do like smelling my nails... I don't even know why I do that. It just happens and I rarely question it anymore. That and few other habits.

The only thing is that some part of me is telling me that I'm just trying to find an excuse. It really does suck. Kind of like trying to swin with a cramp, and asking yourself whether that's a cramp, or you just complaining for no reason.

I'm 30, obese, and make very few healthy choices. I work 80 hours, eight 10 hour shifts in a row and do school full-time, and am obligated to go to all practices and church services for my band. I'm still holding together somewhat. The hull rattles and screws fall out from time-to-time, but I am still functioning.

Well, fuck.

I guess I have no excuse, which sucks because I can do better but I literally cannot focus on my work at times and end up wasting time wondering why I can't study without feeling my head cloud or daydream. Kind of a shitty feeling, but then again, someone living in Texas that I kind of know has it worse than me and is still chugging forward relentlessly. Daily motivation, eh? Keep going, Boom. You're an inspiration to us all.

As part of my effort to stay sane and not topple over, Ive resort to creating a healthy mix of cold brew and espresso with iceblend mix (coffee extract+milk) and espresso cream flavouring.

The result is a cold ice blend drink that knows how to barely keep me awake but at the very least lasts quite some time. Finals, get your bitch ass ready!

Yes.

Also, Planet Waves Screeching Halt. I have one, but it sounds awful for pure acoustic. I always forget to take it off and have to endure the dull sound of a muffled acoustic :P

This isn't really a bad idea, come to think of it. We're all on and off and only get on when some topic explodes. It'd be cool if we all agreed to meet up at certain times and talked and played... checkers? That game purposely induces claustrophobia.

Anyways, that would be pretty cool :)

Earthquaker?

Surprised nobody has offered Avalanche Run.

"My only issue is the price breaking that 200 dollar threshold"

Looks like budget is an issue :/

Speaking of reverbs, I've been eyeing the Caroline Meteore. Pretty cool little pedal that can still touch some subtle reverbs if needed. Anyways, I couldn't profess because no store has Earthquakers around me. Anyways, maybe take a gander at it if you'd like, Blake.

Got myself a Pro Co Deucetone Rat. Holy shit...

I'm actually surprised I found a dirt pedal I like. Clean Rat really gives the cleans some muscle without distorting, punches the Dirty Rat hard, and I gaven't done much pairing with the BB Preamp. I'm so booked for the next week on so i won't have too many chances to try it out.

Still, thing may be built like a tank, but it's also pretty massive. Like, three Boss pedals next ro eachother. That and a low hiss emenates from the pedal. Also, what's with the power output? Why a headphobe jack thing? Can I just replace it with the standard Boss power output?

That thing on the pole. What is that?

If I'm not mistaken, it's really something you shouldn't bother submitting. It's a device that controls the levels in your monitor. Pretty nifty device, but kind of pointless in my opinion. You've a sound engineer you can work with for that. Why repair something that wasn't broken to begin with?

I wasn't even aware that it was a hippie tea. I just heard from a co-worker that is tastes good. She was right. I just like the taste. Ginseng Peppermint is also good.

Who needs honey with tea? That's like adding sugar to coffee or espresso. Pointless.

The Coffee Bean (and apparently Starbucks) produce an interesting tea blend known as the Medicine Ball. It's a mix of Ginseng Peppermint, Moroccan Mint, and Lemon Chammomile. I'm trying to find out what is the exact weight of each one mixed in to produce a single blend of this Medicine Ball.

Nah, a bit short on money at the moment. Just visited Guitar Center and found a few things about myself. I love smaller guitars. Martin 000-15m isn't the sound I seek. The Gibson L-00 sounds amazing but costs and costs a lung and a heart.

Anyways, I just remembered Ibanez and I check their site. They make these beautiful parlor guitars in a vintage tobacco burst with the same woods as a the L-00 I saw. I wanted to go to the Hollywood Guitar Center today, but they're closed for Thanksgiving. Maybe tomorrow.

Either of you have any experience with Ibanez acoustics? I have my eyes on a parlor model with a solid sitka spruce top and mahogany sides and back. AVN6 model. Keeping an eye out for the next few years. My Yamaha is tired as it is.

Quick Chord Question

you know you don't need to mute the D string in that chord as the E is in the chord....

Oops, sorry about that. I just found the diagram, I didn't notice the X on the E string.

The "X1444X" version actually makes more sense. A bit tricky to pull off with the index but manageable. I probably just used the wrong chord because the B/A# sounds terrible to begin with the chords I found online. I haven't checked intonation, but everything sounds fine (save the odd G string buzz and mute, which I'll investigate once I change strings).

This was very helpful. Thank you.

Quick Chord Question

Kinda curious about a certain chord. That is C/B which I play like this:

http://jguitar.com/images/chordshape/C-Major-B-x,2,2,0,1,0.png

I love this chord because it makes a great transition from C to Am. However, I want to play a song that requires the key to be a half-step down. So, here's the original progression:

C - C/B - Am - G - F

Transposed a half-step down:

B - B/A# - G#m - F# - E

Thing is, the B/A# sounds really odd and almost out of place. I can get away with just using a capo, but I'm confused as to why it sounds off from a different key.

I'm kind of disappointed by this. Hopefully, the problem isn't something I can't fix right here with some solder or a replacement.

So I told my dad about this, and he told me that most problems like what I described occur in the cable rather than output jack. So, we tried a different cable, and what do you know? It worked. I feel kind of stupid for not checking this first. At least my Swede is good, but that means I need a new cable...

I've seen TC's mini pedals and it's so odd how tiny they are. I'll await your review, then.

I've been putting that off, Jim, and I thin I'm paying the price for it... Once I get the time, I'll start taking stock of all the necessary parts to repace, but I'm sure it shouldn't take too long.

9yover 9 years ago

Gear Purchases

In an effort to realise that what I have is pointless and what I need is actually quite inexpensive, I've decided to sell more pedals than previously expected. I don't even need the Boss looper... what the hell was I thinking!? I'll sell that off and get a little Ditto Looper for much less that basically has what I need, and it's tiny! Perfect because the Supa-Trem looks kinda big. Still working on all other stuff, and limited to six pedals.

Oh, and the Swede's causing me troubles. One volume knob popped off, turns out it wasn't tightened enough. The washer nut on the pickup selector tightens at times, but it's much worse for the output jack. It seems that the jack may actually be damaged because now I need to hold the cable at a certain angle for the signal to reach the amp.

I'm kind of disappointed by this. Hopefully, the problem isn't something I can't fix right here with some solder or a replacement.
