Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
I think now is a good time to respawn this thread.
Concluding all that happened, I think we should start this quite soon. This thread is 34 pages of corrections, suggestions, confusion, and whatever.
Still gotta stay up, though. Dissertations are a bitch to do. How's everyone doing?

Drool
I started doing Taekwondo again, and I suddenly realise if I don't eat well, I'll probably faint because my instructor means business.
Good on you getting healthy, Boom!

Don't think too much of it. No one died, text is deleted, and only tel_nobody was capable of reaming you for something that small.
Speaking of, I don't think we've formally met! Narcist, who does not frequent the Hello thread very much because everyone beats me there on replying. Pleasure to have you here.
Also, it's about time we had somebody new with extensive musical knowledge.

It's been suggested before in this very thread. I think it was Lex... Lux... ?
Anyways, ignoring you're intoxicated example, I agree that private messaging is a good idea. Probably a good idea because the last and only time I needed private messaging was a trade between Jim and I. I'd be hesitatant to drop personal information on a forum.

GP has helped me more than the others.
Does it have a lot of lessons and stuff? I've contemplated subscribing to a guitar magazine for this purpose a few times.

So is Mason Hoberg going to be doing all the new articles?
Took a look at the articles and was sorely dissapointed by this addition. I don't see why he can't just finish the article, then publish it.

I'm having trouble understand what's happening here. I see the table and pedals, but why does thiz guy have a fishing pole? What is he fishing for? Why did the guy next to him resort to a plastic cup of water? What's with the low pixelation?
???

From what I've tried, I would definitely recommend the TC Hall Of Fame. This TonePrint thingy is amazing, and I think that HOF isn't really pricey after all... I also like DigiTech Polara, and I would choose that, but still, HOF has this TonePrint thingy and it is pretty good at it!
Honestly, I've actually considered getting one of those mini Flashback delays just so I can get a toneprint of a reverse delay.

What's with the sudden influx of "best/worst ______" threads on this forum? Starting to look a bit like Ultimate-Guitar.

Yup. My first official guitar was my Hagström Tremar Super Swede. Other guitars ended up in my hands due to fortunate circumstances. I have to say... I do like the sound of this guitar, but I find myself switching to single coils more often. A single coil plus low gain makes the perfect loud but not gainy amp sound that I like. Humbuckers distort too quickly, so I usually reserve it for playing with distortion. I think, sometime in the next few years, I'll end up with a Jazzmaster and see how that goes.

At the time, I was wondering how Steven Chen of The Airborne Toxic Event got such a killer tone. I found out and immediately came here to toss those submissions on his page. Turns out the man loves Gretschs and Fenders paired with the Hot Rod Deluxe and DeVille.

yes, its a sweep arpeggio and no you can't make a synth's arpeggiator do what a metal player does since a synth is not a guitar LOL
cute, try again
I would, but you that wasn't my point to begin with.
anyway, I do like some of those pad like guitar sounds well enough in context, but being a decent keys player I just tend to reach for synths when I want that sort of thing as I can really get a lot more out of them instead of just approximating with loads of effects --- and if I want effects, synthesizers love stompboxes and rack units and even sound great through guitar amps
There it is. I personally like the sound of it, but I don't play any ambient anymore. I gravitate towards because I've seen guitarists do it often. Sure, keys started it, but if you can do it on guitar as well, what's stopping you?
Also, the "ambient guitar" I'm hearing seems to be double standard, so bad on me. For some reason, I relate EITS to ambient even though they rarely do that kind of pad/guitar thing.
Frankly, I can't remember where I've seen it, now.
9yover 9 years ago
Same reason why some metal guitarists don't just use arpeggiators instead of using their fretting hand to sweep on a guitar (if sweep is the correct term).
9yover 9 years ago
The way I've heard "ambient guitar" be referenced as is a guitar being used in the style of a synth pad. Think Loscil, but with guitars.

The Digitech Polara seems to have a good following, but I grew with Digitech's Supernatural reverb. Much heavier reverb and very great ambient sounds to it.

Oh, my first guitar.
Aria Pro II Inazuma V and eventually a Roland G-303.

FENDER STROCASTER VS TELECASTER
For the longest time, I used to use a Squier Bullet Telecaster. I have to say, it was quite a nice guitar. It's the type that even when you have a really nice expensive guitar, you still fond yourself coming back to the old Tele for some reason.
I thought Strats were ugly. No odea why. You guys are right. I just need a Fender with Wide Range 'buckers, a Jazzy, a Tele, and eventually, some funky Strat.

JJ Allen had a problem he wasn't normal. Eating shit and doing an act about that just makes you pig but he was sick.
It was GG Allin. That cunt has been dead for the last 23 years. Can't say I feel bad for him because frankly, his stage antics and the fact that he nearly attempted to kill himself on stage on several Halloweens.

When I think of chorus for ambient music, I always go back to this passage here:
https://youtu.be/Ziw4yd5R0QI?t=20m28s
A few bars in, a chorus effect comes in and I think the sound of it is simply beautiful. Albeit this is less ambient, but it can still be used to great effect. I've never liked chorus as a distorted effect like with Nirvana, but this song here is what got me back to like chorus for more ambient music.
Speaking of, that's on my pedalboard wish list. Probably going to pick up Julia. I'm sure she sounds good.

HELP! my amp collection isn't making my penis any bigger no matter how loud I play!
And I am getting myself... a Sunn O))) sweater!!
Yeah, nothing eventful. I'm sure if you got a few cabs and heads and turned'em all to 11 and got right next to tbem, a good drop A power chord could, at the very least, blow your ears and your dick at the same time.

Speaking of ear rape, I was hoping to get some from Sunn O))) after they announced their tour, but it's nowhere near Cali :(

I spent the day alone, so I was able to really get my amp loud. I'm amazed at two things: 1) Tube amps sound amazing loud, and 2) That strong, hard, not-really-breaking-up-hard tone that I wanted resides in a not very little gain and lots of volume.
I'm actually kind of happy, but also sad because the last time I tried cranking it live, the clean was too loud for distortion, and even alone it was just too loud. Still, I'm very happy with this result. Now, I can say definitevely that the sound I was seeking in pedal format is simply a loud, low-gain tube amp sounds.
On a side note, I think I'll settle my delay and reverb needs to a Keeley Caverns. That'll leave plenty of room for the Boss Tremolo, a good overdrive, and maybe even stay with the Boss Loop Station.
Desicions, desicions...

I was just adruptly reminded by that Coat of Amrs of your little Emu war a little under a century ago.
The machine-gunners' dreams of point blank fire into serried masses of Emus were soon dissipated. The Emu command had evidently ordered guerrilla tactics, and its unwieldy army soon split up into innumerable small units that made use of the military equipment uneconomic. A crestfallen field force therefore withdrew from the combat area after about a month.
This is just great

Oi, it's not my fault we grew up in disgustingly sunny and pleasant weather all year round.
I'd rather we have some actual rain around here...

It's cold for us because we're not used to it! We get heat waves all the time, then this wind and cool air comes all like "I'm fresh and brisk!" and scares every Californian shitless.
It's 1110 and the sun shines once again. It was 42 a few hours ago, and I'm sure it'l warm up too much again.

My store is right next to a college and isolated, so now that it's December, it's taken two hours since opening to only get five customers. Pretty nice. It's also fucking cold outside. 42 degrees and windy. California weather is messed up....
