Carl Cox's DJ Setup
At 10:52 in this video Carl Cox uses the Pioneer RMX-1000 Remix Station Platinum.
Throughout this video (and starting at 00:51), Carl Cok talks about his first experience and use of the Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol S8 Controller:
"The key or secret to what I do is that I love it. I have a passion. I live and breath it. I share my music with people. It doesn't have to be hardcore, it doesn't have to be techno, it doesn't have to be jungle or anything. It just has to be good music. And for me, that's all I need to give to people, as far as I'm concerned.
I do feel that I play differently because of the technology because I've always been involved in what happens next. I know I can mix two records together very well, that's what I grew up doing. I want to know what I can create outside of that box. I want to know what I can do today, how far I can push the elements of being a creative DJ.
From the first time I saw the unit and the first time I saw what could be done with it I was already in. My setup now, with the S8, is I still have two players at least, and two players internal, so I actually have the best of both worlds. I can still stop/start, spin back, cut... I still want to work. I still want to be sweating. I still want to be riding the groove on the seat of my pants. That's the thing that makes me who I am. I need to be challenged still. One of the the things that got me inspired by the S8 is that first and foremost, everything was integral with the mixer. Now it's just one unit to do one thing and for me, that's brilliant because I can just concentrate on exactly what I need to do and how I need to do it. And instead of looking at the computer, I can look at the desk real quick, find what I need, and make that work. And for me, that's really a great day.
My favorite feature is definitely the remix. I think the remix is really amazing. That really gets into another funky realm of what could be created as a DJ. You can actually produce something right now, live, in front of an audience. These things are enabling you to create the next generation of sound."

Carl Cox utilizes the Pioneer DJM-V10 6-Channel Professional Mixer, as confirmed by a MusicTech article that states: "Cox spent his time off the road jamming on hardware. He would plug his Moog Labyrinth, Moog DFAM, Roland TR-8S, and various other machines into the V10, link them with Ableton, hit record, and start making music."
