Lowell George

In the article, Lowell George is asked, "What guitars are you presently using?" His reply, "A Stratocaster. I try to buy a stock guitar so if it gets stolen I can replace it easily."

Lowell George mentions owning a Gibson ES-345 in a 1976 interview with Guitar Player Magazine.

I also have a Gibson ES-345 Custom that’s sort of okay. I had some work done on it. I asked the repair guy to put a Telecaster pickup on it because sometimes for studio work, and for the group, I may need a real bright sound.

According to Blues Guitar Insider, Lowell George used compressor pedals to reproduce his distinctive tone live, specifically the original MXR Script Logo Dyna Comp. The article notes, "It is said he used compressor pedals to get that sound, notably the MXR Dyna Comp. Initially, he used a compressor from Carangella Electronics that was designed for radio stations."
