At 5:10 into the video, Matthew Followill talks about how he came to play his 1983 Epiphone Sheraton:
“I started out playing the day I got to Nashville to join the band. The guys took me to an old music store and bought me a ’71 Les Paul. Which was absolutely incredible, thought I’d hit the big-time already. Played it for a while, but it kind of limited me, I couldn’t get a lot of good feedback. So one day I went shopping with my cousin Nacho, went to a guitar store, and this was sitting there and I played it and it just felt so good to play. Epiphone Sheraton. I think it’s an ’83. And it stuck with me for a couple years. Then I moved on to something that was a little better for live, which was the ES-137. It’s just a little bit better live, but this [Sheraton] is still my favorite - even over the Les Paul. I do [use it on stage] for one song, I just keep it in the back and let her rest. It’s my backup guitar, if the other one breaks.”
During the Kings of Leon performance at Pa'l Norte 2019, Matthew Followill played an Epiphone 1966 Worn Wilshire. Although he typically uses a Gibson ES-137 for the "Closer" intro in live shows, this performance showcased his use of the Wilshire, as seen in the ETICS Live video.
In this Kings of Leon performance at "Red Bull Sound Space", at the 41:49 mark you can see a great close-up shot of Matthew Followill playing a Fano JM6 guitar during the song "Tonight" from their Mechanical Bull album. The color of the JM6 looks to be Shell Pink, although the lighting during the performance might make that misleading. The guitar is also outfitted with a Bigsby tailpiece.
