Ryan uses a custom 22. He states he has played pr since 2003. His guitar is fitted with a emg pickups, floyde rose bridge, and a custom inlay. he states that he uses this guitar for any of the heavyer songs. this is used for songs where he doesn't need anything extra for stuff like cleans and dynamics
Ryan states that he uses tortex triangle picks. He uses these because, back in the day, he would throw his picks in the crowd, and thus run out of picks. He would just barrow picks from their bassist whenever he ran out. Ever since, he has used triangle picks as opposed to traditional shaped guitar picks
Ryan uses a line 6 helix. He states that he runs it in a 4 cable method. this way allows him to use it in conjunction with his amp. any of the high gain tones are from his amp, but any clean, crunch, and effected tones are run through the helix.
Ryan Phillips received an Ernie Ball Guitar Cable from Ernie Ball, as seen in a post by Story of the Year on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the company's support over the years.
@ryan_t_phillipsIll: always have a place in my heart for a simple, heavy groove, played w a heavy hand & knocked a little out of tune. The way father Dimebag taught us. Wonder if this will make the cut?

Ryan states that he uses a shure wireless for his guitars. He has used the same wireless for years. Ryan states that he uses a wireless, because he moves around too much to use a cable. He states that he Technically shouldn't use this wireless anymore becouse of the frequencys, but he uses it anyway
Ryan uses a blackstar series one as his main amp sound. He uses this in conjunction with his line 6 helix. Any high gain tones are from his amp, but any clean, crunch or effected tones are run through the helix. the helix bypasses the preamp of the blackstar to run its tones. this way allows him to get the tones he need with the feel of a real amp
