In the video, Metallica is rehearsing with Lemmy, you can spot James Hetfield certainly playing on a Blackstar 100W series One (maybe 6l6 version). However, I do not know if this has ever been used on stage.
Back in 2008 when Blackstar was still in its infancy Blackstar sent Adrian Smith a HT-5 mini stack. Adrian then went on to use this and a Series One 100 head to record some of the guitars tracks on the album The Final Frontier. When it came to recording Iron Maiden follow up album The Book of Souls in 2014, upon request, Blackstar sent Adrian a Series One 1046L6 and a 104EL34 to the Guillaume Tell Studio in Paris, France. As well as using both of these amps to record some of the guitar tracks on the new album, Adrian wanted to get the sound he got in his home studios. When asked by Kevin Shirley the producer what he used Adrian replied, ‘The Blackstar HT-5’. So on a weekend trip home to UK Adrian brought back his trusty HT-5. Adrian used the powerfully fitting tone of the HT-5 to help record the rest of the album.
"Everyone loves some thunder". According to Blackstar amps he uses a Series 100 head.
From the Blackstar Instagram:
"The Blackstar Series One 100 is one of the best sounding amps that I've played through. Great dependable amp." - Neal Schon, Journey
In the Aristides Guitars YouTube video titled "Ihsahn - Until I Too Dissolve (Aristides 070 Guitar Playthrough)," Ihsahn is seen using the Blackstar Series One 100 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head.
"We use Blackstar amps live. I use the S1-200 and Anders uses the S1-100. The Mesa rectifier is a nice amp, but for us it's impossible to make it sound right without adding another amp in the mix, like a Blackstar or a Laboga. We both use boss stuff for our FX, Anders uses GT-10 and I'm using GT-pro (Rack mount). We have filmed a nice "gear walk through" that will appear on the new DVD." Jonas Renske
Ryan uses a blackstar series one as his main amp sound. He uses this in conjunction with his line 6 helix. Any high gain tones are from his amp, but any clean, crunch or effected tones are run through the helix. the helix bypasses the preamp of the blackstar to run its tones. this way allows him to get the tones he need with the feel of a real amp
