At a Vintage Salon in the ESP Museum in February of 2017, Syu can be seen trying out vintage Gibson guitars. At 0:23, you can see him playing a 1959 Gibson Flying V.

During the early days of Galneryus, when Syu started out, he used a custom 22-fret EX-280 Explorer copy, equipped with EMG active pickups. This guitar is most prominently seen in the music video of "Silent Revelation."

As a guitarist of Galneryus, Syu has also used 7-string guitars in various compositions such as "Alsatia," "Stardust" and "The Time Has Come." In the ESP Crying Seminar video, at 0:55 Syu can be seen playing an instrumental rendition of "Stardust."

This guitar was one of Syu's first custom guitars that were equipped with Floyd Rose bridges. This guitar can be seen in 1:40 of the ESP Crying Seminar video footage.

In the early days of Galneryus, Syu used EMG 85 Active Alnico Humbuckers in his ESP Explorer copy guitar. This is evident in the video of "Galneryus - Silent Revelation" by Vampslaya4 on YouTube.

Syu is known to be an artist who uses both Seymour Duncan and EMG pickups. A majority of Syu's signature guitars that are equipped with passive pickups have a JB pickup on the bridge. Floyd Rose variants are equipped with a trembucker, while the Classic and Rebel models are equipped with the SH-4.

In this video, Syu explains one of the signature guitars he owns - the ESP Crying Star Rebel Kai. This variant of the Crying Star features a strat-style hardtail bridge, which is different from other fixed bridge Crying Star guitars that are equipped with tune-o-matic style bridges.

This guitar features a Seymour Duncan YJM Fury STK-S10 pickup in the neck position.

Briefly at 0:25, a snapshot of Syu's early pedalboard can be seen - he utilizes a Boss GT-8, Marshall GV-2 Guv'nor Overdrive, a Vox wah and a Boss TU-2 tuner. This was taken during his demonstration of "Shriek of the Vengeance" by Galneryus.

In a Plug-In clinic session, Syu can be seen demoing a Roland GR-55 multi-effects processor along with his ESP Crying Star, which has a GR-55 pickup attached to it.

In this Young Guitar demonstration video, Syu can be seen using Diezel D-Moll and Hagen amps along with his traditional rig. The cabinets he uses are Diezel 4x12 cabinets.

Syu's rackmount rig consists of a VHT cabinet impulse, Marshall JMP-1 and a TC Electronic G-Major, which is used primarily in the effects loop. This can be clearly seen at 0:03.
