Seven Lions produces using Image Line's FL Studio DAW (in a tweet he has mentioned using version 10). In an interview, he mentions having a go-to template in FL to streamline the music making process. He also advocates setting up samples and sounds you frequently use. For instance, "Spend some time making a fat drum kit that you are in love with."

When asked if he uses a subwoofer in his studio, Seven Lions responds, "I have a krk [10s]. Wanna upgrade to the matching dynaudio. It sits behind me against the wall."

When asked on Twitter "What programs/equipment do you recommend?" Seven Lions includes NI's Massive in the list, which is one of his few soft synths he relies on.

The Focusrite Forte Audio Interface can be seen in a photo of Seven Lions' tour bus setup. On Twitter, Arty asks for a recommendation for a portable interface (something like an Apogee but with Windows support). Seven Lions responds, "...Using [Focusrite Forte] on the road and it's pretty great. I recommend it for sure. Closest thing to an apogee."

To monitor his mixes, Seven Lions relies on Dynaudio's BM5A MKII Studio Monitors. He also uses them on his tour bus production setup.

Before switching to a 100% software-based synth setup, Seven Lions had the Dave Smith Instruments Mopho Synth. He has since relied on Sylenth, which he claims sounds just as good.

In this Instagram photo, Seven Lions can be seen working on edits on his MacBook. The headphones he is wearing are the Ultrasone Signature PRO Headphones. They can be distinguished by the red "Signature" written on the side of the ear cup. He states that: "Working in edits for tonight. When did being a nerd become so posh?" (photo posted May 2014).

“I use a few different EQs. Voxengo makes a great one called Gliss. This video covers a bit on how to use Gliss, but what is really valuable is how to use high and low pass and how to sweep frequencies with high resonance to find things that you don’t like and to remove them. It also talks about paying attention to the frequencies you want to come through on important instruments and making space for them.”

In this video, Seven Lions talks us through his song "A Way to Say Goodbye." Although we don't see much of Omnisphere, as he has bounced a lot of files to audio, he tells us he created a lot of the leads and pads throughout the video, for example at 5:44.
