Guitars 6

I struggle to get the action low enough to be comfortable. This has now been tuned to Open G (DGDGBD) and is used for slide. Having a double cutaway, it is easy to get up to the higher frets and being an electro acoustic you can wire it into an amp. Prone to feedback though. Ok, this has now gone from 2 to 3 stars as I have now strung this up as a Nashville tuned guitar and I find I have more use for it. If you have a cheap guitar that you have fallen out of love with then Nashville tuning might be the way to fall in love with it. Following on from tuning this guitar to Nashville tuning, (and despite a luthier telling me that the action couldn't be made any lower), I popped the neck off (as it is bolted on like a normal strat) and put a small shim in. A qick tweak of the trust rod and this is now a low actioned guitar that I really love playing and take regularly to jams to add a little more colour and contrast when there are several people playing due to the Nashville tuning.
So this jaguar came with the stock 60's style bridge and trem. These have now been changed for A Mastery Bridge and thimbles (as it is Mexican made) and a StayTrem replacement Trem arm and collet which will hold the arm in the place you leave it instead of it dropping down. Ok, so the latest mod on here is that I replaced the non locking tremolo unit and Stay Trem arm with a locking tremolo unit off of a Johnny Marr jaguar and have also started experimenting with flatwound on the jaguar which just reduces that nasty screeching when you slide your fingers up and down the strings. The Jaguar has now had some further upgrades. A bone nut has been added which has slightly adjusted the string spacing so it is not cramped any more. New larger knobs have been added on the lead channel so they can be easily adjusted during songs. The bass cut sitch has now been rewired so that it turns both of the pickups into a wide range humbucker when selected for both the Rhythm and Lead channels. The small switch that switches between the Rhythm and Lead channels has been replaced with a larger toggle switch so that you can easily hit the switch without interupting your playing when you want to easily change your sound.

The stock upgrades for the Bass VI are a Staytrem bridge and La Bella flat wounds which I have done. I recently changed the collet on my Jaguar and realised that the trem arm could be tightened up if I gently squeezed the collet together where it is grooved. Now I have a trem arm that stays in place without paying to upgrade the trem or collet.

Effects Pedals 40

I bought this programmable looper as I am running 20+ pedals on my pedal board. There are 6 loops that effects can be put into. This is a looper is programmable with 20 banks of 5 presets. I have set it up so that I use a bank for each of the songs in my setlist and then select a different preset for each stage of the song i.e. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge and Solo. Set the pedals up before the song starts and then just hit the loop for each part of the song instead of tap dancing your way around. Great bit of kit and quite compact.
I bought this to sit in the effects loop of my EHX Superego. The main reason for giving it only 3 stars is that there are 10 groups of effects and you can only have 1 effect from each group in a preset. Ideally, I would want to chain 2 or 3 modulation effects together. You will need to read the instructions for this to get the most out of it I also thought that it would be a bit smaller than it actually was. I would have considered sending it back but it does offer me a lot of effects that I like but wouldn't necessarily buy. Oh and it was cheap. Only £80 on Amazon. you can't really go wrong there
I use this pedal to shift a selection of pedal either in the effects loop for my EHX Superego pedal or shift them out. This means that I can have a phaser and flanger just acting on the notes being sustained by the Superego while having a a clean signal playing over the top or have the phaser and flanger out of the EHX superego effects loop with my clean signal and Superego effect passing through the phaser and flanger.
I have this on my main pedalboard as I don't need a wah all the time but like to let loose with a wah sometimes during a solo and it seemed like too much of a luxury to have a full size wah. I have found this to be quite satisfactory but I have loosened the treadle bolts so that when I press the top of the pedal to engage the wah the force of the switch pushes the pedal back up a little without having to heel down to get the pedal to switch on. Great voicings but it is small so it helps to have it at the front of the pedal board so your heel can rest on the floor.

Music Accessories 1

I bought this as it was compact and would not affect the Fuzz Face at the beginning of my chain. The receiver is about the size of a medium pedal and sits happily on my board Velcro above the Gig rig Isolators and Distributors. It has got two receivers though I never raise them. The transmitter that plugs into the guitar is a bit flimsy as the battery cover is held in with two very small lugs hence the 4 stars but this is a great bit of kit that allows me to move around without accidentally pulling my lead out.
