Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb and Deluxe Reverb review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Fender's Tone Master Twin Reverb and Deluxe Reverb beautifully marry modern digital technology with classic amp aesthetics, delivering impressive sound quality and weight savings without sacrificing authenticity. With ample headroom and a vintage look, these amps cater to gigging musicians seeking reliable performance. However, the lack of user-definable parameters may limit some players, as customization options are sparse. While they may not completely replace the nuanced feel of their valve counterparts, in a live setting, distinguishing them from the originals may be a challenge. Overall, these amps are a commendable choice for those who prioritize portability and fidelity in their sound.

Pretty similar to the original

For context, I have both a Tone Master Twin and a '65 tube reissue. Yes, they sound different. There's different speakers in them, and my tube twin is a few decades old and God knows what kind of tubes it has or how old they are. However, the sound of the tone master is just as good as the tube amp, just slightly different. It's also much quieter when not playing, especially when reverb comes into play.

The tone master cabinet feels a little thin and light, I wouldn't go flinging it around. But if you take care of it, there's no reason it shouldn't last as long as you do.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Sounds great with an MXR EVH distortion pedal into the normal channel with the noise gate at max. Also sounds good when paired with the real tube amp, as the slightly different EQ curves complement each other nicely, especially with the aforementioned EVH pedal.

The Perfect Amp

Perfect for studio use with it having the attenuator and a DI that allows you to mimic a mic'd up Twin Reverb.

Perfect for gigging with it being so crazily light weight.

The tones are so close to a real tube amp that it’s not really discernible at all.

The tremolo and reverb effects sound killer.

I have nothing negative to say about this amp. It’s been great to me over the years.

The Tone Master!

If you're looking for a light weight alternative to a TRRI then this is going to be your amp! This thing sounds amazing and it has a built in DI, Pine cabinet, IR cabinet sim, a built in attenuator, and it's only 33 lbs! Would easily recommend this amp for any gigging/touring musician!
