Absolutely Ground-Breaking

We are in love with this piece of gear - we use it for producing songs, videos and for DJing live in our performance setup. Its great to combine this with Sennheiser headphones like the HD-600 for a perfect representation of your mix. You can feel the sub bass without it taking amplitude from the high frequencies. This is the future. Although you couldn't really take this on a plane without disturbing people (you can still hear it thump), but it would be absolutely capable of being a road warrior in hotels etc. You could easily produce top-quality mixes on the go. We have two of these, and one of them blew out already - so be careful with turning up the intensity knob. Luckily SubPac has good customer service and was able to repair that unit and get it back to me soon thereafter. These will probably sell-out consistently for years to come.

One of the most Fun VSTs on the market!

Absolutely in love with this VST. Its easy to setup, and is extremely intuitive. They also give you a great tutorial on their youtube channel. The additional sample packs you can purchase are nearly endless in scope, and can get you that desired sound in no-time. This is a great way to get that professional sound when still learning the ins and outs of sound design. Would recommend this as our #1 software synth in a heartbeat. Get this synth and you will have a lot of fun making the music you have always dreamed of! Pair this with Ableton Live and the Push and you will be soaring soon enough : )

Agreed! I'm curious, why did you mention Ableton Push? How does it fit in with Nexus?

wivariders

great question! simply, that the Push is automatically mapped and has the ability to adjust musical scales and modes on the fly ... which is an effective workflow when matched up with this powerful third party plugin, with absolutely no effort. It allows you to focus on making the coolest melodies and chord structures, while powering nexus to get that desired sound design for the track you are working on ...

wivariders

we love using nexus, and any other VST with Push, especially when saved as multi-layer presets with Ableton Racks and utilizing the Macros ... which is also automatically mapped with the Push ... you can literally make a whole tune using several layered Nexus VSTs and Push in well under an hour, when your template and presets are configured accordingly : )

wivariders

which, I would say defeats the primary objection to Nexus/Vengeance products - that everyone uses them and the presets are too "mainstream", but with an effective workflow and the Push at the center of it, you can make the most unique layerings and get those signature sounds that no one else will have in minutes

Small subwoofer with HUGE sound.

Absolutely love this subwoofer! It sounds great and it really packs a low-end punch for the price. We use this for our DJ and Live PA rehearsals. Super easy to setup and its pretty light in weight. It also has some simple controls for more effective sound, and can daisy-chain into your speakers.

Great Mixer for Live PA

When integrating your Live PA setup with Ableton Live, the Allen & Heath XONE:4D controller is one of the best choices. It has an amazing array of MIDI-mappable knobs, faders, dials and buttons. We had upgraded from the XONE:3D and it has been worth every dollar spent. High quality sound comes at a premium, and Allen & Heath have that conquered. Would love to try some of the new mixers they have made as well. Wouldn't mind getting our hands on a studio mixer too. Great company.

The Lemur lives on!

We loved our JazzMutant Lemurs, and we are stoked that the iPad had them as an app now. A great tribute to the device that started multi-touch screen controllers. We utilize this for our Live PA sets and especially for us with Resolume Avenue VJ software.

R.I.P. Lemur - our first MIDI controller

When we first started playing with Ableton Live, the JazzMutant Lemur was unparalleled. The good ol' days before iPads took it out of commission. We have two of these, one first generation and another second generation. Will always have a soft spot in my heart for these little creatures, programming them was a bit of a hassle, but well worth it. My first DJ gig was using this and it still resonates in my mind as one of my favorite shows of all time. Customizing it to fit your needs was probably the best aspect. Fortunately the Lemur lives on in a great iPad App.

We need to make a special display in our studio for these.

Play a live instrument while DJing! Also great in the studio

This thing is a beast. It has great sounds that can add miles to your performance. We have even used it for main leads and baselines or FX transitions in our own songs too. Its like adding an element of freestyle jazz to your live DJ routines, you never really know what fun sounds you will add to a mix. Also extremely easy to customize with your own sounds, SD cards are literally the most important piece of gear that you can have, and the Kaossilator dominates!

Great to pair with CDJs

Love this piece of gear, and it helps add extreme amounts of originality to our DJ sets. Easy to setup and customize. The FX are otherworldly and can give your performance a life of its own.

Remix your DJ sets LIVE!

Its almost too fun to use. You have to pace yourself, its the best FX and doubles as an amazing VST plugin as well.

Is there really any other way to DJ?

Seriously though. Why bring a computer when you can simply travel with an SD cards and headphones. Linking two together with the DJM-900 Nexus allows for amazing performance capabilities and multi-tempo space jumping. DJing has never been this fun.

Epic Mixer for Epic DJ Sets

This mixer is so much fun to DJ with. The best of the best, industry standard aside - DJing wouldn't be the same without it. Great FX and smooth controls.

DJ to the maximum!

Amazing performance capabilities, and you can actually hear your DJ mix perfectly with these noise-canceling cans. These are the token DJ headphones for a reason. Completely replaceable and they travel easy. Super comfortable for those epic 12 hour sessions.

wivariders

Favorite headphones EVER.

Pair these headphones with a mono mix cube, and witness your mixes going to the next level. Super comfy too. Had an issue with the left can becoming dislodged, and Sennheiser had excellent customer service and replaced them effortlessly.

Nice! These guys are currently #11 on the list :)

wivariders

Thats awesome - they are extremely accurate, and our mix downs sound exactly how we envisioned them on all speakers after testing with these ... in response to the repair issue, I definitely knocked them off the studio desk many times ... hahaha, so it was no fault of the equipment either, and I have traveled extensively with them ... great list though gchlaren! mahalo for the comment

Love this mono monitor

Absolute must for getting clean mixes. Have the audio routed through our mixer so its super easy to check the mix with the Aux send. This monitor will make sure your songs sound great on any mono device like iPhones, iPads and more.

wivariders

Amazing Talkbox

When you get one of these, you will have weeks of fun figuring out how to vocalize words like Peter Frampton with everything from guitars, to synthesizers and more. Really fun to route audio out of your DAW into it and record it back through the microphone. Way too much fun.

wivariders

Affordable boom boom.

Pairs extremely well with the KRK Rokit 8s, and gives you the much needed sub listening for your studio mixes. Extremely fun to bring home for the first time, and it has plenty of amplitude to annoy the neighbors, hahaha.

Great Monitors for the money

Not the best monitors in the world, but they could be seen as the best for the money. Definitely want to upgrade soon, but for now they do the trick. Have never had an issue, and they may color the sound slightly, but only to the extremely trained ear. Great for beginners and intermediate producers. They do exactly what you need them to do at the price point, since monitors can be ridiculously expensive. Enough bass response to use without a subwoofer, but it helps.

Great Vocal Microphone

This microphone is amazing, and affordable. It has that classic tube sound, which is great for male vocals, especially hip hop.

Love this Guitar!

There is a reason why we have several different versions of these, because they are the best! Fender is located right here in Phoenix, AZ and we love all their guitars. The Strat is a classic and is always there when you need it. Always sounds amazing. The Les Paul doesn't always fit each song, but the Strat can morph into any sound you need with ease.

Most Rockin' Guitar

The tone on this guitar is equally insanely crunchy and undeniably classic. Whenever we write a song that needs that extra "rock n roll" vibe, we bust this thing out and it always delivers the goods. There is a reason that it resides in our studio's most visible spot.
