Critic Reviews

Korg Kaossilator Pro

soundonsound.com

The Korg Kaossilator Pro is a tactile, fun, and unconventional musical tool that invites creativity beyond traditional musicianship. Offering a diverse array of synth sounds and effects, it excels with its intuitive controls and four-track looper, making it a great choice for live performances or DJ sets. The vocoder is a highlight, providing more than just novelty value. However, it is slightly expensive, lacks battery power, and relies heavily on preset sounds and patterns. Despite these limitations, it remains a compelling option for those interested in unique controllers and instant sound creation.

Korg Kaossilator Pro review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Korg Kaossilator Pro is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, impressively enhancing its capabilities with new features like MIDI I/O, built-in effects, and external audio inputs. Its robust build makes it ideal for studio and live performances, although it's less portable than the original. The intuitive interface allows easy creation of complex patterns, but its MIDI implementation is limited, lacking standard note data support and offering only single-touch on its X-Y pad. While it isn't perfect, the Kaossilator Pro is a fun, powerful tool that deserves attention, especially if Korg addresses its few shortcomings in future updates.

Play a live instrument while DJing! Also great in the studio

This thing is a beast. It has great sounds that can add miles to your performance. We have even used it for main leads and baselines or FX transitions in our own songs too. Its like adding an element of freestyle jazz to your live DJ routines, you never really know what fun sounds you will add to a mix. Also extremely easy to customize with your own sounds, SD cards are literally the most important piece of gear that you can have, and the Kaossilator dominates!

great looper

i use this machine to loop my microkorg XL synth. it works super well and can create a fully flushed out song in real time - live! i just wish you could put more than a 2gb sd card in there

Expressive

Not terribly accurate, but great for patterns using gates, fun to integrate into your live rig. Although, you get bored of the onboard beats and sounds after a few years.....

Great synth/looper

This is great phrase synth and looper. I use it especially for some effects sound.
