You most memorable gig?

I'm the type that stares at my fret-board a lot. I CAN play for extended periods without looking and often test myself to see how much of a song I can play with my eyes closed and without missing a note. When I worship at home I can, and do, play like this. For some reason, I have a higher percent chance of messing up on stage. When I do let loose and just watch the crowd or close my eyes on stage, I eventually hold the wrong position or forget about a change coming up. When this happens, I get so embarrassed and angry at myself. I lose all the emotional and spiritual sense that I was going through and become a dictator of the bass.

I don't emote well either lol. I've discovered this for myself with youtube but also watching the services I've played for. I will be playing a song I love, singing along, smiling, and moving around stage. I'm so in it. When I watch the video of that moment, I look nothing like what I was doing in my head. My mouth is open and my tongue moves so I can sing, but you can't tell I'm singing from watching. I don't move, I don't smile. I'm trying to force myself to over-emote, so that it looks like a normal person is up there :) I'm sure I weird people out with my brutal metal grimace during "This Is Amazing Grace".

You most memorable gig?

I think it's weird for a church band to get paid to begin with.

It is because church bands are used to playing in their own church for free. Damn... come to think of it, I'd feel weird being paid to play anywhere else just because you lose that care for money.

Speaking of feeling like a rock star, my favourite gig... can't really remember when it was. Maybe a year ago? Everything just went smoothly, we played some really emotional songs at our own church and everybody just felt emotionally exhausted afterwards. I love playing for my church, partly just for the fun, but because I'm taught on how to be humble about it. It's incredibly hard, but It's really similar to what everyone calls "serving the song" rather than just playing for yourself. I'm still learning, though.

Oh hey, I have days to play electric live! Those should be fun since I rarely get to play the electric.

I was just discussing with my band leader that I have a problem worshiping when on stage. I tend to lock myself into a musician purpose, and not a worship purpose. This last week I told myself I was going to forget about the crowd and was going to sing and play right to God, but once I hit the stage, I completely forgot and it became all about keeping the timing perfect, hitting all my solos, and trying not to mess up the new song we made. I don't know how to work on this though. At home, I can do exactly what I meant to do on stage with no problems. Once their are people watching me, it becomes about musicianship.

Narcist, there is a book I am reading and really enjoying the tar out of called, "How To Worship A King" by something Neese. It's really changing the way I think about what I'm doing and addressing questions I had about the more modern church atmosphere. I grew up earlier in very traditional, hymnal singing, piano only kind of churches. When I left my old life and decided to go back to church, that's the kind of church I felt comfortable in. Now, I play for what could be called non-denominational or inter-denominational, they things are of course different. Small stuff like, "Why are they raising their hands when they sing?" is all coming together for me now. I have an audiobook version for my phone on christianaudio.com . If you want, I'll let you log into my account and download it.

JIM KELLEY ORIGINAL FACS 30/60

I watched a few different videos on them comparing both sound and feel of the Kemper in comparison to different amps. The word is that the Kemper feel quicker than the older amp instead of the way we would think, having the digital amp lagging behind. They say you wont notice it unless you play fast and intricate, but when you feel how fast it is, you generally think you are playing the real amp.

I've not heard anyone say the tone/sound was off yet, but I heard one or two examples where I could tell the difference through my monitors. I didn't know WHAT I was hearing between the two amps, but I knew one was a tiny bit warmer. In blind sound tests, I tend to always guess wrong on the Kemper videos because I have been reinforced to think tube amps cannot be topped. When I hear a warmer, clearer tone come through, I assume it's the tubes I'm hearing and guess the real amp. I've not heard one in person yet though, only through the interwebs.

SO MANY bear attacks brother.

I used to go shooting a lot and if I were visiting out of town, I would always get into a situation where I wouldn't have anything of my own to shoot. So, I started carrying a good amount of stuff just in case. Most of the ammo if 7.62x39 in wolf boxes but the bugout bag has a whole pocket of .22lr, a random grab bag of 12 gauge shells, and a few full extra magazines for a S&W M&P .40 which is my glove compartment gun. I hate pistols, so it lives in the glove box unless I feel I need it.

I also believe in being prepared. With so many people killing police these days, I would like to be in a position to help law enforcement or civilians for that matter if a crazed individual starts attacking others. It's not likely to happen to me, but it has happened a few times this last year even.

My bear gun is my auto shotgun. A failed experiment more than a reliable bear killer. I wanted a shotgun that could dish all my slugs quickly and would also be easier to maneuver with through tight woodlands and hallways. I ordered a stock for it that is amazing, but wouldn't fit the receiver, and I ended up leaving it stock for the most part. It's just a house gun now, usually propped up alongside my bedroom door. The cool stock I ordered ended up on a Maverick 88 field shotty (crazy long hunting pump) which is centralized in the house and leaning against my keyboard in the living room. All the roommates own firearms and keep theirs all to themselves but I have mine throughout the house in case we are doing dishes or working out when trouble knocks.

Very much neither. It comes down to laziness mostly. My backpack is under my truck. To get to it, I'd have to remove close to 100 lbs of ammunition, my bugout bag, the jacks, and all the junk that I have thrown in temporarily. Basically, I would have to clean to get to it, and I am not a cleaning type of guy,

Not usually. If I have garbage, Ill go ahead and fill them, but there have been times when I had a mountain of plastic bags for months and just ended up throwing them out.

The book store bags are a thick plastic, so they are holding up better than grocery store bags anyway.

Spacey/Psychedelic Chords

That whale song does not have chords, multiple strings being strung together to make a more full sound, within it. They are all single notes being sustained and bent around the fret-board.

By chords, I'm pretty certain he meant what the rest of us think of as chords. Like this.

Trump building walls

After President Enrique's response, hell no. It won't happen, now unless Trump can get him to break radio silence and actually negotiate.

I'm surprised as well by how many executive orders he's pushing out. And now with the order on the military? Looks like he's ordering a review on the military to refocus money on whatever's most efficient on destroying ISIS and wrapping up the war as quickly as possible.

Well, the plan right now is to adjust NAFTA to be an inconvenience to Mexico unless they comply. It is also being said that the US will start charging a 4% fee for all outgoing money transfers, of which Mexico get's tons of. They are trying to rig it so that Mexico has no option in the matter and that they have to give the US money in some form. At the worst, Mexico can try to wage war, but it won't be in their favor to do so. Trump is also talking about building a large wall border between us and Canada as well.

I really don't feel that we are as divided as we were in 2008. When Obama first won presidency, I thought for certain someone would assassinate him based on race alone. I don't feel that is the situation this time around. In my experience these last few months, only a few people have been actively outraged about this all. They may take to twitter and claim a gijad on Trump, but in normal conversation they aren't being burdened with the election.

They announced yesterday that Trump is starting a momentary cease of all incoming immigration from Libya, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and a couple of other countries. They are supposed to be coming up with a new way of approaching Visa interviews and background checks. I read that they also are putting a smaller cap on how many refugees we get.

Politics

Well, I'm certainly surprised and impressed at how many things Trump is tackling. I don't follow politics usually, but the news sites are covered in American politics these days. I think destroying the EU and really, the UN is a terrific idea. It doesn't seem to work well. North Korea is a prime example.

You most memorable gig?

To thin the heard a bit, I'll assume gig means you got paid for it.

It was a church youth group thing. Multiple churches in the areas got all their kids together for a week, I guess a retreat or something, and it ended with a, "Meet at the Pole" kind of thing. This took place at the church where I normally play, so we had our nice stage, lighting, and sound system. We only played 4 songs, but it was the best show for me. Every kid was singing to what we played and made a beautiful large chorus effect. You could hear them over your inner ears, over the amps. They went crazy at the end of each song and made me feel like a rockstar.

There are a few songs I've learned for church that I found had a perfect setup for a bass solo, but didn't have one. They usually just have this open, boring spot and it really drops the momentum of the song. We played 2 songs that were like this. The first solo I played, the kids were frozen. They didn't understand what was happening because they were so used to the radio version. The second solo I played, they went nuts; clapping to the beat, screaming, it was awesome.

I almost got the chance to do another one of these, and really wanted to even though the pay was going to be smaller. It ended up falling through a week before the show and I was super disappointed. I really wouldn't mind playing them for free. I think it's weird for a church band to get paid to begin with.

Are any of you getting this as well? State Yes or No followed by what state or country please.

The conspiracy side of me is already assuming the new government is installing some new material into our internet if you are ;)

I love cooking hen I have the time. I don't blame fast food for my obesity though. I'm in it just for the addiction to the endorphin rush mostly, but the over romanticized relationship I grew up with helps. In my family, food was a big deal. It's how you loved someone, it's how you pleasured yourself. It made everything better. Movies, sports, etc. I cook, I just cook 7-8 portions at a time and eat them all until they are gone. Many times, I won't even refrigerate the leftovers because I know I'll just eat them in a a couple of hours. It's dangerous for me to have large meals around, but I also cook in large amounts, even when I don't want to. Self control is a struggle. I start my days now usually cooking a large amount of vegetables and filling up on water, then eating breakfast. Whatever I have left, I take to work. By the time the water and food have made room, I'm ready for lunch.

I have been using the Weight Watchers "Smart Ones" the last couple of days due to the new school schedule. I'm a fan. I've considered writing the company and seeking an endorsement.

A patty melt is sort of similar down here. This is actually 2 separate grilled cheese sandwiches, overflowing with cheese, and cooked around 2 hamburger patties. When I think of a patty melt though, I think of sliced bread that is toasted and has a patty, cheese, and grilled onions on it.

I'm actually not exercising right now. It only makes up about 10% of your weight loss and I seem to be doing well just the way I'm eating. I work 10 hour shifts and am speed walking around a large grocery store all night, but walking hasn't ever made me thin.

The first half of this week, I made all my meals. This last couple of days, I have been nuking lower calorie frozen foods like Lean Cuisines. Tonight's my last night to work, so it will be easier to make my food again.

I got tired of being obese :)

Started a weight loss attempt with my YouTube co-host. I', 6'3 and was 347.5. He's 5'11 and 450. I have been using a calorie counter which has really been the star of my success. Having to keep track of the calories just changed the whole game for me. The counter says I need to eat 2600 calories to lose 2 pounds a week. I've been eating between 1000-2000, but mostly sticking to the low 1000's.

I don't feel deprived, I've eaten foods that are unhealthy, and I've kept my calories as low as comfortable. I drink these 0 calorie energy drinks as well for the heart rate boost.

Yesterday, I was going to have my first cheat day. I had planned to eat a secret menu item at Five Guys Burger and Fries. It's 2 grilled cheese sandwiches that encompass 2 hamburger patties. It's around 1600 calories and it would still have still put me under my calorie count. However, after weighing myself, I decided that so long as my body is doing what I want and losing the flab, I will not punish it with grease and cholesterol.

I mostly eat frozen vegetables, processed chicken, and canned fish. My boss and I had words about it, and he's taking the stance that it's wrong and unhealthy, but I reminded him that I'm less likely to die soon from weight loss than I currently am of a stroke or heart attack.

I'm actually feeling really well. I smile a lot for no reason. The burning fat is making me silly.
