Id like the option for what kind of search you want to do on the forum. Maybe even a different search for the whole site or single out the forum. It would be nice to have one option of looking for every matched word in every post or just thread titles. Let's say if we had a 14 page thread going and inside we had a short conversation on Ukuleles but I cannot remember which thread it was, I could do a match word search for "Uke" and have it pull up every uke in every post. Maybe even have it separated the way you guys have the search for bands/artists/items where the posts would be first and the item would be on the right.

Chat feature?

This reminds me. I would like a search bar for the forums, so we can find topics or posts quickly.

Identifying the gear

That's a Takamine T sir. I do'nt know why, but on some guitars they just put a T. I reckon it might be the lower end runs are the T and the high end deserves the full name.

Have you guys seen "Lemmy" documentary?

I didn't like Motorhead, but I enjoyed the documentary. He lived a sad life in the end I thought. A messy little apartment, spending all his time on bar slot machines, alone.

The medicine ball sounds terrible. I don't like flavored teas myself. I prefer just super strong teas in their original flavors. I did oOLONG THE MOST RIGHT NOW. Damn this caps button.

I know a wee bit. Being from Texas, most of my expertise is for the sweet and icey kind, but I have dabbled with different teas.

Interesting. I'll definitely do some reading this week.

Quick Chord Question

Pontious tried to avoid having to kill him though. It was the pharisees who ordered for his Crucifixion. I would think a normal man would hold a grudge against the people who were most adamant to have you killed.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

You can actually make different lists on your own board. When saving a new item, it should ask you which board you would like to add it to yeah? Maybe somewhere deep in the options though. I named my first board something about "bass thumping awesomeness" or something similar.

Quick Chord Question

Why's that?

Quick Chord Question

I think after the whole crucifixion thing, playing a phrygian clarinet lick would get you a stern look.

Quick Chord Question

You scared me at first by having the tab upside down, but it checks out as the same pattern :)

I am trying to write a few songs for Christmas for the church I play for and I started just hitting random patterns to a 130 bpm tempo and found that. I then discovered that a multitude of Christmas songs use these same notes.

So E Major... the Christmas Scale. I like it. Thanks Jimmy.

Quick Chord Question

I got one for ya Jimmy. What scale or progression or whatever is this. I need to know.

Identifying the gear

It did further my search for sure since this photo shows GK's and not Mesa's, which I had already added.

I found an intsagram photo of his and he tagged Darkglass, Shure Inc, and Origin Effects over his rack unit. This might help discern what all these are.

The rack unit just under the Peterson Strobo. What IS that?

yeah, but if replacing the screen is only $100 or so, it would be worth grabbing up; especially, with all the included gear.

Bands

You just go to SUBMIT, Music artist or band, then select band. Post a photo and save. Then you can add the artists to the band.

the election's over...

It doesn't sound definite, but it DOES sound like a good start towards a relationship. I think he wants to meet Trump first and test the waters.

The treaty is honestly very good and bad for Philippines. It labels them a target to countries that are just around the corner to them;however, it does offer them revenge if they get vaporized. For the U.S., It's more of a promised gas station along the route 66 of war. I don't the Philippines stopping an invading NAVY or anything.

Joe Biden announced that Trump's cabinet is very pro-Israel as well. Right out of the shoot, the U.S. is becoming the popular kid with all the bullies. Could be very good or very bad for us :)

Yeah, Philippine President Duterte is now rooting for us as well. He called Obama a Son-of-a-B$%& and told him to go to hell, but he seemingly enjoys Trump.

I didn't have a horse in this race, nor will I ever vote again;however, I did enjoy hitting refresh on my phone to see if a winner was announced. It's still sinking in for me. Fun night.

I'm only interested now in seeing how the relationship between the U.S. and Russia will change.

What Takamine Guitar does Glenn Frey use in Hell Freezes Over Video ?

It's the Takamine EF381SC Legacy 12 String Acoustic Guitar in Gloss Black that someone put on his board. I was searching all over the net for it and only after I figured it out, I saw it was already on his page :)

I read somewhere that he used a special pickup in it.

Here you go...

“The acoustic guitar in the intro [of "Hotel California"] is a Takamine 12-string with a DeArmond pickup,” Felder said in an interview with Guitar World. “We miked the acoustic and put that in the center of the mix. Then we took the pickup’s output and ran it through an Echoplex and a Leslie. We miked that in stereo, so it has this left-to-right kind of swirling, ethereal characteristic. It’s blended in with the direct acoustic as well."

OFF TOPIC

I just thought on something. What if someone made an online order at a restaurant; We'll say a Subway Sandwich shop, and in the comments sections you added "Make certain there are 40 olives on the sandwich or I will kill myself in your store's bathroom". Would they take this seriously? If THEY did, would the cops? Would the cops pay you a visit? Is suicide something they must prevent and if not, would they respond merely because the kill site would be in public.

These things and more plague my mind.

How to get this sound? - Post here to get ideas on how your favourite band gets their sound.

I recently tried this out and it worked well.

How to make a Double Bass sound on the cheap

Electric Acoustic bass, La Bella SS DTF Flatwounds, top of a sock folded and shoved under strings just in front of bridge.

I set the preamp to -12db for treble, presence, and mids. +6db for bass.

It sounds like a 1960's P bass tone with a pick or finger nails. Like a double bass if you use the meaty side of your thumb.

What I should have done when starting out...

You are already doing one of the things I wish I had done when I started, and that's learning scales/chords/names of notes.

  1. I wish I wasn't such a snob about what music I played. When I started out, it was Metallica or bust. Then it was Tool or bust. On and on until I eventually starting just playing along to anything on the radio. My point is, I wish I had made myself learn music from different genres and from outside my own musical taste from the start.

  2. I wish I had practiced multiple techniques equally. As a guitarist, it would behoove you to learn to finger pick, use a plectrum, and if you can... even try some percussive acoustic. Every extra, new way to play you practice will greatly enhance your playing and the need for people to have you in their band.

  3. Don't do drugs or other self-destructive behaviors just because an artist or icon of yours did/does them. It's so stupid, a waste of money, a waste of time, and you are rolling the dice on your freedom and health. It's cliche, but it's true. Don't hang out with people or jam with others who do either. You are who you hang out with. Guilt by association. Be a real rebel and be one of the few musicians that don't have an abuse story.

  4. Play multiple instruments. If you have a 6 string now, you should try a ukulele or bass. Learning the roles and mainstream behaviors of these instruments allows you to write better music. I did not re-enforce the multiple instrument idea after a while, and I wish I had kept up with it. Grab a banjo even.

  5. GET ON STAGE!!! Oh my gosh I wish I had done this years ago. Go out and play for living, breathing bodies. Get used to making wrong notes in front of a crowd, get used to having 400 eyes glued to you, and learn to move and get into the music. Don't just stand there like a statue. Videotape yourself when you play live and re-watch it the way football teams re-watch their games. Learn from what mistakes you made and keep working on your stagemanship. Learn when it is appropriate to dance wrong on stage and when to gently sway. You are a leader when on stage and the audience will feed off how you lead. If you look bored, they will be bored. If you are excited, they will be excited. Be a bard. Use your music as well as your body language to manipulate the crowd. If you are religious, I would greatly recommend playing for your church/temple/what-have-you. Even if you aren't super into the music they play, it is still experience and you are benefiting from being on stage, playing with other musicians, playing music outside your own tastes, and essentially mastering your techniques. Another benefit to these types of gigs is that the audiences there will be far more supportive than at a bar or in a parking-lot.

  6. Buy nice equipment. When you buy nice equipment and take care of it, you have the opportunity to sell it for a decent amount later if you wish. No one wants to pay $25 for a beatup guitar that was bought at Walmart for $100 4 years ago.

I think that's a good starting point.

Gear Purchases

It's not an asshole move, but it is unwise. You would be better off buying one used online and selling it for maybe a few bucks more than what you bought it for when you're done with it.

Equipment I Once Had

I just leave it on my mainboard the way we do with the artists. There's no telling if Paul McCartney still has his old Wal bass... but it's still on his board.

9yover 9 years ago

Equipment I Once Had

You can make multiple boards and nam ethem whatever you wish. You could just make a second board and title it"Equipment I once had" and re-add those items to it.

Gear Purchases

I just had some Westone dual driver inner ear monitors molded, but those make music sound accurate, not great. I've heard a lot of people go on about Beats by Dre. I had some Skull Candys that were okay.

Gear Purchases

I called Sweetwater and had them tell me what was wrong with the Ricochet Pedal. It seems Digitech pedals require 300ma of power and this pathetic Voodoo Labs I have only puts out 100ma. If I used my Yankee, it would have been fine but now I need to hook up a separate plug for the Pedal. Luckily, I ordered a special AC plug years ago for another Digitech pedal that outputs 1300ma max. It's really put Digitech and Voodoo Labs both on the chopping block for me.
