I can't think about kazoos, without thinking of that kazoo kid clip. It's just a bit to creepy to be comfortable.

Finally somebody who doesn't just think ghost are amazing. They're actually a bit crap. Tbh I don't think he is a ghoul though.

Not too obscure, but I used to have a banjolele. I found it in an antique shop for £25, while visitng Bristol, a good few years ago. I tried getting it fixed up, but it was just to old, and dead, so I flogged it on ebay, for £120. I spent £15 doing it up, so that was a good £80 profit.

John Petrucci guitar is porn?

Nope, I believe that's grindr, or tindr, or something. Tindr is a social media site that's not that big anymore that's nearly as f*cked up as 4chan

Well I found out that the issue was down to something on tumblr. Geez it's always tumblr...

Is GarageBand a good software to produce music

As in run out of sounds to use with your keyboard? It's not illegal to use the same sound multiple times you know, but even if you do want more sounds in that sense, you don't need to buy a new bloody DAW! Have you heard of VSTs? They're essentially downloadable "sounds", as you put it, which you open with a DAW, or some other host. As a DAW garageband is ok, but its very basic, and easy, and that's why its used by schools, basic amateur, or home musicians, and all the rich noob kids, I know that have the cash, but no patience to learn, or for that matter talent.

Bank/Preset switching pedal looper system

Well I didn't know that there was a trails mode, I've never had it on anyway. Is it an internal switch or something? It's obviously a lot better in stereo, I've done some great stuff with it in stereo, and for me it sounded pretty massive for a $100 pedal.

Hey its a great delay, mine's pretty damn good for the price.

Bank/Preset switching pedal looper system

Is there a pedal looper than can switch the banks/presets on say a strymon pedal, with MIDI output, per loop.

The same basses just sound different.... why?

Are you asking why the bang same bass (Say two Mexican P basses), or say a custom shop, and a squire sound different?

10yover 10 years ago

How do you kick out a band member?

I'd disagree, but that's just my instinct, and (Not to sound a bit pathetic) what the Bible calls us to do (Narcy, back me up here!)

10yover 10 years ago

HUMBUCKERS

They cost about £80 per pu here, but I guess they'll cost more with export charges, etc in the US. In terms of heavy most would say bare knuckle for the best passive, and EMGs for active. Personally I don't really like actives too much, not enough clarity, or tone, just a lot of output, and a focussed low end usually.

10yover 10 years ago

Orange O Bass

Yep Jim, that's why I said it was boom, with the bass expertise.

Yeah I know the sliding pickup isn't anything new. I'd never heard of that westone, but I knew that I think Gibson put adjustable pickups on the grabber series?

What is the sound like on that westone? It doesn't look like theres enough bass there to sound good.

John Petrucci guitar is porn?

The school servers won't let me look up any sort of john petrucci guitars as they see it as porn!

10yover 10 years ago

How do you kick out a band member?

Make sure you, and the rest of your band have a clear reason to kick the member, with examples of what is wrong, and potentially a second chance to fix it (I'd recommend a 2nd chance to see if they really can improve their act, if possible). Then when it finally comes to kicking them (If it comes down to it), do it in a pleasant, yet firm way, and make sure you have all of your arguments backed up.

HUMBUCKERS

I've really been reading up a lot on this funnily enough, and to be honest I really like some of the bare knuckle pickups I've played (Though some have been equally terrible for the price). I really like the painkiller, its got a single bar ceramic magnet, and so buckets of sustain, and power, yet a really fat, and clear sound in general, and a really tight, and djenty sound for low end stuff.

And I played the Jackson Misha Mansoor the other week at andertons (It is actually brilliant!), and the juggernaut/bulb pickups are pretty nice as well; they are incredibly versatile (I played them in one of the booths, which are filled with roland pedals, and it could do some brilliant low end stuff with a really tight, and focussed sound, which also managed to be aggressive, but when it cleans up it can have very high quality definition, and that musical aspect that alnico provides over ceramic pickups, and with this one I believe it uses alnico five, and that's why it sounds so huge.

10yover 10 years ago

Orange O Bass

Obviously you are the one with the bass expertise, but it might be worth mentioning that it has an interesting pickup placement system, which is based on a modded p bass (I heard it in a NAMM interview), and that might be why it costs a bit more.

Yeah Daniel from gigrig built iit for him, its pretty nice. And good to see victory getting some high profile exposure

Building amps

Where would you get amp kits? I've never seen any, maybe I should look a bit harder.

10yover 10 years ago

Brit opinions (Total bull)

This year, both the nominees, and some of the winners were pretty messed up choices.

British male solo: Winner: James Bay (I can take that) Noms: aphex twin (Techno bloke who released an album in 2014, to not massive popular public acclaim), calvin harris (Featured on a pop song, once), Jamie xx (Producer who hasn't done much, again), mark ronson (Hasn't done anything notable since uptown funk)

10yover 10 years ago

Best and worst bass you've played?

Best basses: some very good musicmen (?), they have a brilliant feel, and a lovely sound, which is great for slap, funk, and other beefy middy bass tones, but is all around pretty versatile. Fender custom shop J bass: Obviously top notch bass, with that classic, and brilliant J bass sound, even better than before. Numerous others

I haven't really owned any of these. My bass is really shit, it's a dodgy p bass rip off, that I got free from a friend.

Gary Moore One Day Setup

Geez, chill out mate! Your sounding like a bit of a dick there.

Yeah he played a '59 les paul, and some sort of marshall, which I think was probably a super lead, and all that's important, but you need to really get that sustain, which with the amp settings Jim mentioned, and maybe a nice tubescreamery thing into the front you could get that.

I'll have a look at your EB, and assess what you have, to try, and work out what'd be best.

EDIT: Lol I don't think a roland cube is gonna get the sound of a cranked marshall superlead, and neither will your cheap cort, really. I'd advise you forget pedals, and buy a new amp, or guitar, I suggest a marshall hybrid combo, and an epiphone as a reasonably priced duo.

10yover 10 years ago

Worst guitars you have bought

I thought those epiphones were decent! What was wrong with it?

Where are your income taxes going?

Seems like a pretty versatile rig for a non specific studip. Why the 6505 over the 5150?

I love Glenn Fricker's setup for metal;

5150 - An all around pretty great high output, high gain amp 5150 (Bias mids mod) - The same thing with the option for an awesome mid section, that seems to sound pretty great, though I've never played one, or heard one in the flesh. Dual rec - Classic pretty good metal amp, perfect for that Metallica, thrashy gainy sound Triple Rec - Revv generator - Fairly new on the block, but sounds great. A true modern classic Marshally plexi thing?

He also has some very interesting mic placement, a good rack of wonderful lovliness which I can't rememeber, and some top preamps, and pedals, which helps the huge sound needed.

10yover 10 years ago

Best phaser pedal? Best overdrive pedal?

Yeah, as I said what sound do you want, and what's your price range?

You don't need to spend a fortune on OD, as generally there is pretty good ODs in the >£100 price range, though you can get some really good stuff in the next bracket.

For example you don't need to spend much, if anything over £100 for an authentic ibanez TS tone, and with many very good clones everywhere (The digitech bad monkey is a pretty great pedal, for the price), you shouldn't need to spend much at all, though THE BEST TS style pedal is the incredible Maxon supertubescreamer (Conveniently intheblues just did a vid on one), which is just a beautiful sounding pedal, though it probably costs a little bit more.

Hey ho just gwet back bto me, and I'll spill my wasted youth at your feet...

10yover 10 years ago

Anyone in the USA looking for a great 80s Marshall for an inexplicably low price?

Sounds like a great head. Tbh though if I had that cash, I'd be buying a 2nd hand mesa instead, or an AC30. I love the mark series, the v in particular, as they are amazingly versatile, packed with handy features and sound pretty good after all that, and obviously the AC30 is one of the best sounding amps of all time, though it has less live potential, for channels, etc.

However as it is I have no diposable income, as I am under the legal working age, so...

10yover 10 years ago

Best phaser pedal? Best overdrive pedal?

Well it all depends on the sound your looking for, and the price your willing to spend, though I'm late to this thread so everything's all done. Shame, this is my favourite type of thread.

My pedalboard looks empty

I've never been actually, I live hours away from it, up in the north. English guitar shops sound so much better than your US crap, mainly coz there isn't really one big chain. We have dawsons, and guitarguitar, I guess, but they aren't that big.

I've been a gear head for 2.5 years now, and in that time I no pretty much every pedal brand there is, and most guitar, and amps, as well as loads of useless knowledge about all sorts of guitar stuff, you'll get it coming soon. Joyo are a cheap Chinese make, like a lot of brands today, but idk if you get much of that stuff over the pond. We have so much Chinese shit it's incredible.

10yover 10 years ago

Where are your income taxes going?

Theres a thread on him I think. From about two months ago. He started making himself artists pages and stuff, and bigging himself up, and some other stuff I think

10yover 10 years ago

My pedalboard looks empty

I'm selling my line 6, and crapper pedals this week then hopefully journeying to Andertons in the next few months maybe. The land of dreams...

I'm gonna try out some tone city mini pedals (A riot clone, and a nice OD, either the vox one, or the klone), and of course the boss ph3/bf3, and digitech x series phaser/flanger pedals I've been rambling on about since October, but still haven't chosen one to buy, or bought it.

I could do with a cheap EQ, or comp as well, I have a friend whose gonna give me his joyo comp at some point, but apparently it does jacksh*t.

Where are your income taxes going?

There aren't really any massive ground rules, but use your common sense, I guess. In my memeory I can only remember one person being kicked off the site, and the was chris cornell's brother who was being an idiot in some way.

Obviously duplicates, are annoying, and try to avoid making them, but it's not the end of the world, just alert the EB guys on the designated threads all overt the general, and guitar forums, and they'll take them, and whatever else down, usualyy,

You didn't appear overly pissed, It's fine! That's me talking from MY experience. You're definitely very apologetic! Are you Canadian XD? Oh stereotypes

What's your favourite maiden song? I really love the music of blood brothers, but I hate the chorus, the trooper is very good in all aspects, and tbh pretty much all there songs are amazing, but my favourite riffs are aces high, and the trooper, music in general, the rme of the ancient mariner, and all around song, fear of the dark.
