Description

D'Angelico EX bass grey black finish with black hardware

Heavy groove, light weight. Designed in our New York City workshop, the Excel Bass is our first-ever electric archtop bass. Available fretted or fretless, the single-cutaway hollow-body design makes the Excel Bass exceptionally light, while its standard neck shape and Indian rosewood fingerboard provide ultimate comfort. Truly versatile in tone, the Excel Bass boasts a traditional wiring design with volume, tone and a three-way pickup selector switch. The neck position offers the warmth of a vintage ‘60s hollow-body bass while the bridge position is powerful, bright and loud for when you need more punch.

Slim C-Shape Neck No matter the player, no matter the hands, a slim C-shape neck makes for supreme playability free of wrist-ache.

D’Angelico Standard Series EX-Bass – “The Return of a Legend” | Bass Gear Magazine

bassgearmag.com

The D'Angelico EX-Bass impresses with its stunning vintage aesthetics and robust craftsmanship, offering a warm, resonant tone that suits a variety of musical styles. Its lightweight design is a boon for prolonged play, though the neck's tendency to drop might require a wider strap for balance. While minor wiring and jack issues were noted, they are easily rectified. The bass delivers a rich, sustained sound, making it a versatile addition for any bassist seeking a blend of classic and modern vibes. Despite minor drawbacks, the EX-Bass stands out as a compelling, quality instrument.

Bass Lab – D’Angelico EX-Bass | Bass Gear Magazine

bassgearmag.com

The D'Angelico EX-Bass impresses with its blend of vintage and modern aesthetics, offering a unique look and feel. While it retains some classic D'Angelico styling, the Korean-made hollow body doesn't match the precision of its forebears. Despite some rough fretwork and typical import electronics issues, the bass delivers a warm, vintage tone suited for blues and classic rock. Its standout Art Deco design and satisfactory playability make it a good option for those seeking a visually striking instrument at a moderate price point, though its electronics and setup could use improvements.
