Google Nexus 7 review (2013) - The Verge

theverge.com

The 2013 Google Nexus 7 impresses with its sharp 7.02-inch display and solid performance, offering an excellent viewing experience for reading and streaming. Its sleek, lightweight design is a step up from its predecessor, but the large bezels detract from its otherwise modern aesthetic. While Android has improved, the app ecosystem still lags behind iOS, which may be a drawback for some users. Despite these limitations, the Nexus 7 remains a powerful, affordable tablet, making it a compelling alternative to the iPad mini for those willing to navigate Android's quirks.

Google Nexus 7 (summer 2013) review: The best Android tablet gets even better - CNET

cnet.com

The Google Nexus 7 (2013) shines with its sharp full-HD screen, swift performance, and competitive pricing, making it the top contender among small tablets. Its gaming prowess rivals that of larger iPads, and it benefits from timely Android updates. However, it lacks the original's grippy back texture, has slightly inaccurate screen colors, and offers no microSD support. Android 4.3 brings limited new features. Despite a few design niggles and minor interface hiccups, the Nexus 7's value, performance, and display clarity earn it high praise as the small tablet to beat.

New Nexus 7 review | TechRadar

techradar.com

The Google Nexus 7 stands out as the best 7-inch tablet for Android users, offering a compelling mix of affordability and performance. With its high-density display, fast performance, and durable build, it impresses especially for reading and movie watching. While it surpasses the iPad mini in pixel density and price, it isn't without flaws. The lack of a 64GB option and inaccurate colors might deter some users, and its storage limitations due to pre-installed software are notable. Despite these drawbacks, the Nexus 7 remains a top choice for those seeking a budget-friendly, high-functioning tablet.

Google Nexus 7 (2013) Review | PCMag

pcmag.com

Google's Nexus 7 (2013) raises the bar for small tablets with its exceptional price-performance balance. It's fast, well-built, and offers excellent battery life, making it a stellar choice for most users. The screen is a standout feature, boasting a 1,920-by-1,200-pixel display that's sharp and vibrant. However, it does face challenges with some third-party apps not fully compatible with Android 4.3. While the app ecosystem lags behind Apple's iPad Mini, the Nexus 7's performance and features make it a top contender, especially given its competitive pricing. Overall, it's a highly recommended tablet for media consumption, gaming, and web browsing.

using a tablet for wireless music control and DJing without hardware controllers

So after much debate, I finally purchased one of these and I run a jazzmutant lemur style controller app over wifi to ableton..so now I need a personal router for my rig. Or hopefully supports MIDI through mirco to standard USB coding..I guess we will find out. Also DJ off of it without any hardware controllers needed.

Interesting. Curious, what's the "jazzmutant lemur style controller app" you're using?
