Grace Design m908 Monitor Controller Review | TapeOp | Tape Op Magazine

tapeop.com

A monster monitor controller that sounds as elite as its spec sheet suggests. Tape Op praises the m908’s conversion and clocking as “astonishing,” with deep Atmos-ready flexibility: up to 24 channels, per-speaker EQ/delay, bass management, source summing, fold-downs, solo/mute control, and a remote that quickly becomes the nerve center of the room. The new browser-based control also makes setup far less tedious. Downsides? Very few. It’s expensive, menu depth on the hardware remote can be slower than computer editing, and the reviewer wishes Grace had added per-speaker polarity/phase rotation, especially for sub/LFE work. Still, those are minor complaints in a review that calls it invaluable, brilliantly engineered, and even a bargain when you consider the feature set. For Atmos rooms especially, this lands as a top-tier recommendation.

Grace Design m908

soundonsound.com

A rare beast in monitor control, the m908 earns high praise for combining superb sonics, tank-like build quality and a genuinely elegant remote with staggering flexibility. It handles everything from stereo to full immersive 24-channel setups, with deep bass management, room EQ, delays and broad digital connectivity, all wrapped in a responsive, confidence-inspiring interface. The catch? That flexibility comes with serious setup complexity — the 135-page manual is basically required reading — and the “dual-redundant” power supply isn’t as fail-safe as the term suggests, since it still relies on a single mains inlet. The reviewer also notes an unusual +18dBu D-A alignment, though it’s unlikely to be a practical issue for most users. Still, for high-end surround and Atmos rooms, this is framed as a unique, future-proof controller with almost no direct competition.
