Description
Introducing the L.R. Baggs Lyric Acoustic Guitar Microphone - an innovative solution for capturing the pure, resonant sound of your acoustic guitar. This microphone effortlessly combines the high-fidelity performance of studio mics with the feedback resistance of piezo pickups, thanks to its unique pressure zone design and under-saddle position.
The Lyric microphone employs the Tru-Mic technology that rejects "boxy" reflections within the acoustic chamber, delivering a clear and open performance similar to having the microphone outside the guitar. This noise-cancelling technology takes you beyond traditional pickups and brings you closer to the authentic, inspiring sound of your guitar in a live setting.
The Lyric microphone is also equipped with several patent-pending "black box" circuit innovations that unlock the full potential of the microphone. It tightens the lower frequencies for a punchier attack, maintains the mic's sweetness irrespective of your playing intensity, and includes an adjustable "presence" control for dialing in high-frequency response perfectly for your guitar.
Installation is straightforward with the featherweight microphone mountable to the underside of the bridge plate using a simple peel-and-stick adhesive. The soundhole controls mount similarly, making the entire system easy to install and use.

Mic is good, pain in the a** to install
It sounds good. Mic is different to the anthem's, which I have also owned. Not a lot of bass, but everything else is very good. No feedback issues as long as everything else I have is set right. Small amount of noise. It sounds like a small and low blowing wind, whereas the anthem was higher pitched and needed eq to control. This doesn't need special eq to deal with the noise, as its low and unnoticeable unless you are right next to it. Would be ok for gigging.
Bought new, but it didnt included the wire routing clips like the manual says. did have 2 small pieces of tape though. Manual did not come with it, had to be downloaded. Wires are not long enough for a Grand Auditorium. You can run this system, but the wires are not long enough to route cleanly around the outskirts of the body.
This is an absolute SOB to put in. I would curse more, but mods probably wouldn't like that, LOL. Hope you have a big soundhole, or small arms! I would suggest a flashlight, small mirror, small wrench for the jack nut, and a whole lot of patience! Let's just say I'm glad it's in there and working well.
Oh yeah, the presence adjustment is not hard to do, they give you a special tool to adjust the small philips on the volume control.

A bit boxy in my guitar
I have this installed in a Kim Walker SJ in Adirondack spruce / maple. It's okay at low volumes, but gets a bit boxy at higher volumes. It requires some pretty drastic EQ, but with a Baggs Para Acoustic DI or Venue DI, it just about works. For solo acoustic gigs in small venues, it's fine. For larger venues with the band, it's more trouble than it's worth. I don't gig with the Kim Walker now anyway, so it's kinda moot.

The Big Box
I have L.R. Baggs Lyrics installed in my Martin, my Epi and my Fender 12 string. The sound is beautiful. It enhances the natural lows and highs of the guitar without stealing from it's original warmth. I highly recommend them!

Currently using in my Epiphone Hummingbird Artist acoustic. Sounds absolutely fantastic, better than any acoustic pickup I've ever heard. Works really well on recordings.

This is an alternative to the lr baggs anthem. It does not have an undersaddle pickup, and instead has an underbridge mic with a different voicing than the anthem's mic. This is good, but has less bass. If you want to avoid an undersaddle, this is a good choice, albeit a pain to install!
